Marinette groaned. Did Adrien really not know what she was talking about?!
She knew! She had listened to him!
Adrien had said he was sorry for breaking her heart, but he wasn't the one that did that. Cat Noir was! Adrien had practically revealed to her that he was Cat Noir.
She couldn't believe it. At first she thought Adrien was sending her a message from Cat Noir.
Maybe Cat Noir knew she lived here now and told Adrien to tell her all those words.
If Adrien was really acting stupid about it, maybe he wasn't actually Cat Noir. She had to ask!
Getting off her bed, she headed to the door. She was about to reach for Adrien's door when someone grabbed her wrist.
"What?!" She turned around and froze when she saw Gabriel Agreste glaring back at her. "What do you want?!"
Gabriel pulled her away from the door, still glaring.
"Since the day you got here, all Adrien has been focusing on is you!" He grimaced. "Listen, you may be living here for a while now, but that doesn't mean you get to do whatever you wish to do!"
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Marinette glared back, folding her arms as soon as Gabriel released them from his grasp.
"I want you to stay away from Adrien! He's not allowed to talk to anyone!" Gabriel spoke back coldly.
"Why can't I be with Adrien?! You can't stop him from making friends!" Marinette yelled. "You may be his father, but that doesn't mean you get to control his life!"
"Shut up!" Gabriel snapped back. "Don't you dare use that tone on me! I am the owner of this mansion, and for him to continue living here, he would have to obey me! And for you to continue living here, you would have to obey me! So when I say stay away from Adrien, you do as I say!"
"Ugh!" Marinette turned away in anger. "You cold hearted man!"
"Call me whatever you want, but when I see you breaking this one rule," Gabriel headed for the stairs, "you don't even know what I'm going to do to you!"
Marinette had to admit. She got scared on that one. What was he going to do? Whatever it was, she knew it wasn't going to be pretty.
"Marinette," A soft voice came behind her. She turned around to see Emilie headed towards her. "I'm so sorry about him."
Marinette was about to ask, "why did you even get married to him in the first place?!" But she held it back and smiled back. "It's not your fault."
"I swear he wasn't like this before. I don't know what got him to change." It was like Emilie could read her thoughts. "But it's okay Marinette. You don't have to stay here anymore. "
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"I just got off the phone with Alya's mother. She agreed that if you want, you can go stay over at their place," Emilie smiled. "I don't want you to suffer the same things as we are."
"What? But..." Marinette wasn't sure on how to feel. Since the day she started staying here, Gabriel hadn't placed a hand on Adrien. Maybe once on Emilie, but not on Adrien. She thought maybe she was the reason for that. Maybe she was the reason Gabriel was holding back from beating them up.
But if she left now, Emilie and Adrien would have nobody. They would just be left with Gabriel and Lina torturing them.
"Marinette, this is better for you. Please, pack up and go over to Alya's." Emilie turned around and started heading back to her room. "Besides, Alya is your best friend."
"Wait!" Marinette stopped her before she could head inside her room. "Does Alya know I'm living here?"
Emilie thought about it. "Well, I only gave her mother a call, but perhaps her mother might have told her."
Marinette sighed. If Alya heard that she had chosen Adrien over her, she might not even be able to forgive her.
"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Marinette asked, getting even more worried. The thought of leaving wasn't really the best, but not the worst either. She could finally leave Gabriel and not have to see his face again.
Emilie nodded. "We'll be fine." And she headed inside.

- Adrien -
I could hear them, after all they were just outside my room. First I heard Gabriel talking to Marinette, and I heard his exact words.
I got angry with what he told her. Maybe I was been told to stay away from people, especially girls, but there was no reason to threaten her.
Then I heard Mom talking to Marinette. Her words shocked me. And when I heard Marinette asked the final question, if we were going to be okay, a door closed.
I figured it was Marinette going inside her room.
I was breathing heavily. For about 2 hours, I heard complete silence, and it scared me.
And then I heard something that scared me the most.
The front door closing.
