Adrien looked up and smiled when he saw Marinette running over to him. He stood up from where he was sitting and walked over to her.
"Hey."
"Hey Adri- WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!"
For once after it had happened, Adrien had forgotten that he had a huge bruise on his face. Seeing Marinette somehow made him forget the pain.
"It's fine, really," He tried to tell her, but she was already boiling with anger, knowing perfectly well who could have done this.
"He released you out of the hospital just to do this to you!" She exclaimed, clenching both fist. "Adrien, you need to tell the police."
"You don't understand. I can't do that-"
"Yes you can!" Marinette urged. "You're just afraid to do so."
She wasn't entirely wrong. He knew what was going to happen if he ever reported Gabriel, and he didn't want Marinette to he a part of it.
"Let's just forget that this happened, okay?" He wanted to forget, after all he didn't call Marinette over to talk about the bruise.
She sighed and nodded. "Fine."
Taking her hand, he started walking away from the closed bakery. Marinette led him lead her to where ever he was going.
Finally they entered inside a small café. Marinette looked around, knowing she hadn't been here before.
It was a small café, but it smelt nice, which meant it must have a lot of delicious food.
"I used to come here before." Adrien explained as they waited for a waiter to take their order. "Actually, I only came here twice with my mom, until well... This started happening."
(If you're waiting for a waiter to come and take your order, doesn't that make you the waiter?)
Marinette smiled and nodded. "That's nice." She still wondered why Gabriel had decided to take away their freedom when he literally got to do anything he wanted. But finally she decided that Gabriel didn't deserve to he on her mind her. She should think happy, positive thoughts and focus on what was going on now.
They ate in an awkward silence, until Adrien decided to break it.
"So... When you wanted to talk to me that night, what was it about?"
She frowned. "What night?"
"You know... When you refused to tell me what you were talking about. Ad you told me if I was ready to tell you, I should come to you," Adrien reminded.
Her face changed. "You.. You really don't know?"
He knew. At least he thought he knew. He wasn't sure whether he wanted Marinette to find out either, but then again he could be wrong.
"Well..." Marinette put her spoon down, suddenly remembering the reason the whole thing started. Adrien noticed and quickly apologized.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to remind you about Chat Noir."
"Stop pretending! I already know," Marinette huffed. "Don't act as if you don't know who he is."
"Marinette, keep your voice down. We're not the only ones here," Adrien reminded.
"I'm not forcing you to tell me the truth. I just don't want you to lie to me either," Marinette stared down at her shoes as she waited.
Adrien sighed. "Well, fine... I am Chat Noir. I'm really sorry. I did t mean to make you feel so upset that night."
"Adrien, it's fine," It finally made sense to her, all the pieces going back to it's right places. "I finally understand why you said we can't he together. Because of Gabriel, and because you want to protect me. And for that, thank you."
Adrien smiled and looked down as well. The whole secret reveal had went better than he expected.
He had expected Marinette to leave him on the spot, to blame him for breaking her heart. But no, she don't do that. Instead she understood, just like he had wanted.
He liked her too, very much. He just wasn't sure on how she felt about Adrien, but now he knew.
Too bad Gabriel had to get in the way.
He looked up finally, and his eyes widened. Just right outside the window, was Gabriel, standing and staring at him.
