I had just got back to my apartment after a meeting downstairs about Ivy House. Because I had been in Windsor for the past month or so, I hadn't been to visit as much as I would have liked, so the meeting was basically an update on how everything was going. We were also looking at the possibility of opening another centre, similar to Ivy House, up in Manchester, but this was very much something which was being discussed, a lot of funding and planning needed to be done before that.
When I got home, I changed out of my dress and put on a pair of jeans and a jumper. I then went into the kitchen and began to make some lunch. Olive was coming over, so I wanted to have something nice for her. I put some chicken in the oven and began make chicken, bacon and avocado salad, with some garlic bread.
It had been a while since I had seen Olive. I felt like in Windsor, people didn't pass in the same way they do in London, which often was nice, but meant I got a lot less done, in terms of meetings. Olive was now nearing the end of her pregnancy, like Mom, but she had a bit longer to go. Her parents moved out to South Africa a few weeks ago and since then, they haven't spoken to her and she has been living with Ollie. Ollie was a delight to Olive, and his parents weren't as strict as Olive's so I don't think she mind that much. But still, it was hard for her, to be so young and so full of emotion and hormones and I think she needed a girly chat.
The timer for the chicken went off just as the doorbell rang. Pete, on the front gate, had let Olive in the gates. I took out the chicken before going to the front door and opening it.
"Hey pretty lady." Olive said to me as I did. She walked towards me and wrapped her arms around me.
"Oh I have missed you." I said to her as the two of us stood hugging for a while. I then let go of her and invited her inside. We went through to the kitchen, where Olive sat at the bar, while I continued to make us some lunch. When it was ready, we sat down at the island and ate, chatting about work and boyfriends and babies.
"Dais, I actually have a favour to ask you." Olive said, mid conversation.
"If you want me there when you have the baby, then you can think again because my Mom has already asked." I told her and the two of us laughed.
"No, no, Ollie has got that covered but it is to do with the baby." she said and I nodded as I chewed on some garlic bread. "I would really like for you to be the baby's godmother." she said. I smiled, trying to chew the garlic bread quickly so I could say yes.
"Of course I will." I said getting up from the stool and going around to give her a hug. "I would be absolutely honoured to, of course." I said as I hugged her. She smiled before I pulled away and sat back down again.
"Ollie is going to ask Sam if he will be godfather, but don't say anything cos he hasn't done it yet." she told me.
"Oh Olive, that's amazing. Of course I won't tell him." I said. The two of then chatted away for a while longer, until the early evening, before Sam arrived at the flat, and Olive realised she had to get back to Ollie's.
Sam and I went for dinner that evening, potentially the last one that we would have in a while, because for the next three weeks I was in Windsor, with the girls and Mom and Dad, and very soon the baby. And while we were there, the five or six of us were on lockdown and people weren't really visiting. Mom and Dad made this rule so they weren't bombarded with visitors and could enjoy the time with the baby and the girls and I, in their little bubble. I was fine with it, and Sam, obviously, understood, but of course I would miss him. And then once that three weeks were over, I was going to Toronto and LA for the majority of June, so wouldn't see him then either. And for the last week of June and beginning of July, I was in New York, filming for a movie I was doing. Although Sam was meeting me out in New York, I would still be working and it felt like such a long time. But the two of us were spending the whole summer together, spreading our time between Windsor and London. I had purposefully scheduled not to work so I could spend time with Sam and the girls and the baby and Olive, Ollie and their baby.
