She's coming

The number of weeks between the baby's due date and the current day were getting smaller. And as the weeks to my due date were fast approaching, so were the weeks to Mom's.

Sam and I had moved the most part of our things into the main farmhouse on his Grandad's farm after Sam had handed in his final dissertation to University. After he had, we went for dinner at our favourite Italian restaurant not far from Kensington Palace. We chatted and laughed and giggled and then when we got home we went straight to sleep and woke up the next morning and began the process of moving again. We weren't making a public announcement about moving. Why did we need to? Nobody needed to know. But in the coming weeks I was going to mention it in one of my letters to Dad.

The final part of our move to the farm was interrupted by a phone call. Sam and I were in London packing up the house when I received a phone call. It was Dad.

"Hey Dad." I answered.

"Hey Dais, I need you to get here as soon as you can." he said on the other end of the phone in a worried tone.

"Why? What's happened?" I asked. He panicked me.

"Mom's in labour, quicker and sooner than we thought she would be and we need you to come and get the children." he said. He didn't need to say anything else. I would be there I told him before he hung up the phone. I quickly relayed to Sam before the two of us rushed out of the house and got on the road to Windsor.

During our journey, we had spoken to Dad again, who said that on our way we needed to get Poppy and Holly from school. I knew that was going to be interesting. For a long time now, both of them have had a real issue with changes to who is picking them up from school. It upsets them if it is not the person who they thought it was, regardless of whether or not that is me or not. I know they will be panic. Sam pulled into the car park and I got out of the car. We thought it would be better for it just to be me, just to calm them. I walked across the car park and into their playground. I felt weird. I could feel the other parents whispering. This happened every time I came to pick them up and I hated it. I wanted to run into their classroom and grab them as soon as I could. Minutes later, the door to their classroom opened and their teacher appeared. They were the last to be let out. I stood waiting. Poppy saw me first and ran quickly towards me. I bent down to her.

"Where's Mom?" she asked. Just as Holly saw me as well and ran over as well. I pulled the two of them into me and spoke quietly.

"Don't worry about anything. Mom has gone to the hospital. She went into labour this morning. She's fine. Everyone is fine." I said. They calmed down quickly after that and I pulled them into a hug.

"I missed you guys." I said softly. They both squeezed me a bit tighter.

"I missed you Daisy." they both said in unison. We stayed like that for a few more seconds before pulling away.

"Right we need to get home to see the boys. Sam's in the car." I said and they leaped in the air with excitement before holding onto my hands and then walking back to the car with me. I felt relieved that things went that smoothly. The girls were both excited to see Sam and spent the entire car ride home asking about Mum and Dad as well as asking about the baby.

When we got home, Mom and Dad had left. The boys were with the nanny in the garden and the four of us went through the house to see them. The nanny and I had a chat for a bit before I said she was alright to go and I saw her out. Sam, meanwhile, stayed in the garden and played with the children. I went back to the garden and played for a while before going inside to start sorting out dinner.
