Rebecca felt like she would cry forever. Everything was awful. Suddenly she heard someone approaching. She did not want to see Leo and clutched her knees closer to her.
"Rebecca?" The sweet sound of Mikeys voice drifted to her ears.
Relief swept over her. The little turtle approached her. She tried to wipe away her tears. It was too late. He already saw them.
"What happened?" Mikey tilted his head.
She couldn't help but smile a little bit. No matter how old Mikey got he was always adorable.
Meanwhile Cadence and Donnie were still in the lair. She sat on the couch as she finished telling Donnie what happened.
"I've done it again... I've ruined everything." Cadence put her hands on her head.
"Its not your fault." Donnie placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Its all my fault." She snapped. "Just like last time..." Donnie tilted his head.
"Last time?" He questioned. Cadence let out a sigh.
"It all started in Japan." She began. "I was born in a small rural looking village. My family practiced the ways of the ancient samurai. Except we were different." Cadence looked at Donnie. "Our purpose was to hunt down Tengu."
"Tengu? Aren't those monsters from Japans old folk religion?" Donnie questioned. Cadence nodded her head.
"Except these creatures are real. I was trained to kill them. My family used to work under the shogun. Since times have changed we hunt just to protect the people. Then I ruined everything. I was tricked by a very ancient Tengu. She came to me as a kind lady but... when I led her to my village for a bed and food she..." Cadence clenched her fists. "She killed everyone. Since that day I've sworn to kill every Tengu. I traveled to America where the sightings were strong. I just changed the name to Monsutā so people wouldn't laugh when I said I hunted Tengu."
Tears came to her eyes. Donnie drew her into a hug. He patted her back as sobs racked her body. Donnie felt awful for her.
"Its alright." Donnie whispered.
"No it isn't. I've ruined too many families. Besides." Cadence looked at him with a tear stained face. "You are a Monsutā but I cant kill you. Your all my friends. My parents probably think I'm weak."
"Listen to me." Donnie lifted her chin up. "You are the strongest most amazing person I have ever met. Your parents are proud of you. I know they are."
He gazed into her eyes as he spoke these words. Cadence seemed to sparkle for a moment. With one quick movement she leaned her face into his. Donnie's eyes were wide. Her hand was on his chest. She could feel his heart speed up. Cadence couldn't help but smile when she pulled away.
"Thanks Donnie." Cadence sniffed and got off the couch leaving the stunned turtle in frozen shock. "Your a good guy."
He simply nodded his head with a small smile and bright red cheeks. Though the kiss was just a thank you and nothing more he couldn't help but feel so happy. As she left the room the purple clad turtle broke out into a nerdy chuckle. It seemed to be the best day of his life.
So cute! Everyone remember the word Tengu. There will be more on them in the third boo.... I mean... Soon.
