"Well then, Kurayami-san

"Well then, Kurayami-san. Let's work together and do our best." The smirk on my face morphed into a smile at Midoriya's encouraging gesture, nodding in agreement.

"Right. That 'World's Greatest Stew™' we made sure gave me enough energy for it."

A total of twelve minutes or so has passed ever since this 'Test Of Courage' started, and five teams had went in. This first team was Shoji and Tokoyami, who had yet to make it back from the test.

Five out of the eight teams had already left into the forest, the remaining three teams consisted of me, Midoriya, Iida, Koda, Ojiro and Mineta. So the few of us gave words of encouragement to the teams that went before us.

It was about time for Ojiro's team to head in,until Pixie-Bob and Mandalay stopped them.

"What's that burning smell?" The question from Pixie-Bob confused us, sniffing at the air to indeed get the scent of smoke and burning.

"Look. Black smoke." Mandalay pointed out, somewhere within the forest rose smoke that neither Pro Heroes know of or planned themselves.

It was a tense silence around of for a few moments, and that's when I heard something. The sound of footsteps, heavy ones that you'd hear from boots, and none of us were wearing boots. I turned around to find where the sound was coming from, only to have my eyes widen.

"Stay out of our way, Kitty Cats." The person said, taking steps closer till she stood next to a lizard-like man. Both of them wore dark and taunting looks directed at us, which only made it worse.

"How...? Even with all our precautions...?" Mineta's voice was visibly wavering with fear, even though I had felt a dump of dread in my stomach, the taste bitter at the back of my throat as I watch the scene before me.

A large pole of cloth wrapped metal was pushed against the side of Pixie-Bob's head, where the skin tore and blood flowed down her forehead to the ground. Her visor was cracked and half-broken, where it showed her unconscious state.

"How're there villains here?!" I took wary steps back from the villains, who only smirked at the clear expressions on our faces.

"Pixie-Bob-!" From next to me, Midoriya had tried to move forward to save the Pro Hero, but Tiger had lifted an arm to stop him from advancing any further.

I glanced at Mandalay who cursed under her breath at the sudden situation we were put under, watching as she looked from her fallen comrade to us and to the villains as if calculating some sort of plan.

"If there're villains here then...-" The thought came into my head and my eyes widened, snapping my head back to look at the burning wood in front of me. "-there's even more of them in there... It's an ambush in the dark..."

Gritting my teeth, I look at where the two villains in front of us were, having been making conversation with Tiger and Mandalay who look about ready to run in and start a battle.

"Tiger, I've broadcast the order! Ragdoll will make sure the other students are safe! It's our job to hold them back here!" Mandalay said, throwing her head back to look back to us with a demanding look. "Get going everyone! And remember, no fighting!"

"Lead them, Class President!" Her eyes went to Iida when she said that, to which he nodded and pushed us all further from the possible fight they were gonna have.

"Understood, let's go everyone!" Iida hurried to lead us away and to the trail where it'd take us to the lodge, but I wouldn't move, I continued to stare at the flaming forest that held my classmates and friends.

"Go on without me, Iida." Midoriya and I had spoken at the same time, his eyes seeming to look towards where a mountain cliff by the side was, that certain determined look that he'd always have now present in his gaze.

"What do you mean, Midoriya? Kurayami?!" Iida, Ojiro and Koda had stopped in their tracks and stared at us in question.

I gestured towards the direction where the forest was, a grin on my lips. "You guys have to go, there might be villains at the lodge too. I'll go and help the others."

"Are you insane? I will not allow my classmates to throw themselves into danger, with an injured arm at that!" Iida yelled, making me grin even more, feeling my hair getting pulled up into a ponytail, a black ribbon tying it up.

"Don't worry 'bout me, Class Pres. Besides,-" Lifting up my right hand, I felt the mist of dark matter engulf it, until it morphed into sharp ends that curved to form a giant claw. "-I'm not afraid of the dark."

I didn't stay to hear another word from them, instead, I turned my back at them and made for it into the dark forest.

-x- TICK -x-

The sounds of leaves crunching against my shoes and the pants that came from me were the only I could hear. There was a smell that hung in the air that burned my lungs every time I tried to breathe it in. Sweat and grime stuck my bangs to my forehead, myself not caring enough to wipe it away as I continued to run.

Shadows and haze continued to cover the forest, not even the fire that seemed to burn was lighting it up any better. The darkness of it all was making it hard for me to see or continue forward.

"It's no use..." Taking in a sharp breath, I tried pushing down the growing thumping in my head, the black spots that appeared in my vision only worried me even more.

My heart was racing in my chest, the sound of it beating ringing my ears as I stumbled to a stop by the trunk of a tree. My hand instinctively went to clutch the piece of my shirt where my heart was, gasping for more air desperately.

The shadows of the forest loomed all over me, engulfing and trapping me in as it only got closer. There was no way I could stop it, my train of thought was frazzled and unfocused, my breaths were heavy and unsteady, I could feel myself fading more and more.

There was a weight on my chest, where so much pressure was pushing down on it that I'd have thought my bones would break. The heaviness of all those negative emotions that were getting the best of me.

'Anger, hatred, betrayal, sadness, anxiety, pain, death, death, death-'

A rippling scream tore at my throat, something that I've never even heard come from my own voice. There was pain all over from my heart to my head, hands to the toes at my feet. My right hand was throbbing, waves of pain lapsing and coming over it repeatedly.

Then I fell, I could feel myself hitting the ground and the sound of leaves underneath me. My consciousness was fading, and I was thankful for that.

It was just the darkness behind my eyelids. Darkness.

But then they opened, and I couldn't see the trees or the bushes anymore. Not even the shapes of shadows or smoke.

All I saw was darkness.
