Sierra's POV
“Sierra!” I heard someone call my name. I was standing outside of Liam’s hospital room, leaning against the wall, trying desperately not to scream and break down the door to see what’s going on in there. I turned around and let out a sigh of relief as I saw the five familiar faces running towards me.
“You’re all here.” I said quickly. Their response was tackling me in a hug. I just stood there and cried into whosever shoulder I was leaning on, letting the five of them support my weight. This was all my fault.
“What happened?!” Lacey asked tearing me away from Harry, who was apparently the person I had been crying on. “Why did you leave all of a sudden?”
I took a deep breath and sat down against the wall, and everyone else did the same, sitting either next to me or across from me.
“I woke up in the middle of the night and went to get a drink of water.” I started, sniffling and wiping the tears out of my eyes. “Before I went back to bed, I checked my phone and there was a message that Nick had sent me…” I couldn’t continue. The image flashed in my head, reminding me of what could be on the other side of the hospital room door. Instead I just pulled out my phone from my pocket and pulled up the picture that Nick had sent me and handing the phone to Louis who was sitting next to me. I heard him inhale quickly as he looked at the picture and read the text. Slowly but sure it, all five of them looked at the message, causing gasps, anger, and cries.
When I got the phone back, I quickly deleted the message and looked back up at all of them.
“After I saw that, I realized that I had to leave. I had to get away from him, from all of you, if I wanted you to be safe. He was going to kill anyone that stood in his way or was close to me, just to hurt me. I had put you all in enough danger, so I left. B-But, it still happened! He still hurt Liam!” I cried and put my head in my hands. Louis wrapped his arm around me and pulled me in close to him, holding me tightly.
“Shhh…” he soothed. “H-He’ll be alright.” He stuttered. He stuttered because he didn’t’ know that. He could be dead right now.
“He has to be alright.” Niall mumbled through tears. Lacey grabbed his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“I’m s-sorry.” I choked out. “At least Nick’s gone.”
“What?” Harry asked.
“Nick… the clerk from the motel sh-shot him… he’s dead.” I explained. Every stared at me with emotionless expressions. It’s not right to be happy over someone’s death… but it was sadly relieving.
We all sat there thinking quietly to ourselves for what felt like hours. I’d assume it was only five minutes until the door to Liam’s room opened. I jumped to my feet and looked at the doctor that had walked out of the room.
“Are you all the family of Liam Payne?” he asked us. We all hesitated and looked at each other. Family? Just go with it.
“Yes.” I said quickly.
“Alright.” He said and let out a long breath. Thoughts swirled through my head as I just stared at the man in front of me, willing him to speak.
“He got lucky.” He said. I let out a tiny breath of relief. That means he’s alive!
“The bullet hit him in the shoulder, missing any major blood vessels and organs and what not. The wound itself wasn’t fatal, but he lost an extreme amount of blood. Luckily, we were able to remove the bullet and give him a blood transfusion in time. He should be alright, he’s just sleeping now. If he wakes up and is feeling alright, we can get him home so you could all enjoy the end of your Christmas together.” The doctor gave us a warm smile. I let out a long sigh and smiled. He was going to be alright.
