don't hang on, nothing really matters
(Vic's POV)
When Kellin called I felt an overwhelming sense of panic I didn't know I was capable of. I called for Mike, who was just sitting in his room to come out, causing him to stagger out of his room confused.
"What the fuck are you yelling about?" Mike complains, leaning awkwardly against his doorframe, his eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
"It's Kellin, please come with me, I'll explain in the car." I rush out, grabbing his arm and pulling him downstairs to the front door.
I don't know if he actually understood what I was saying or if it was my panicked tone that got him to follow me, but regardless I was thankful.
"Okay, what happened?" Mike says as soon as we get in the car as I do I silent prayer of how lucky we are that our parents are out for the weekend.
"Kellin," I say, taking a deep breath to calm myself. "He called saying he needed me to pick him up."
"Oh shit."
"Oh shit is right," I pant, taking one hand off the wheel to run it through my hair. "I need you to stay in the car in case I need extra help, but I'm going to just go and see what happened, okay?"
"Yeah, sure." He says rather unsurely, the situation clearly stressing him out.
I pull up to the street Vic told me to go to, parking the car, and opening the door to exit.
"See you soon." I call, closing the door and rushing out to find Kellin.
I jog quickly towards the park area, trying to get a feel for the area I'm in. The sun was beginning to set so it wasn't bright out, but there was still enough light to see properly.
I try and see if I can spot Kellin, but without seeing him at first glance I decide to call him.
"Hello?" Kellin says into the phone, his breaking uneven, and his voice quiet.
"Kellin," I pant into the phone as I'm looking around this area for him. "Where are you in the park?"
"Oh," he says, sounding surprised. "You actually came?"
"Of course I did, why wouldn't I?" I ask, realizing that it really didn't matter, finding Kellin was what mattered. "Never mind that though, where are you?"
"I'm by the big tree, that's past the part benches and the trash can. I'm against a tree by those things."
I look for those things and just like he said, a little in the distance I could see the silhouette that sort-of looked like a person slumped against a tree by a larger tree, a garbage can, and park benches.
"I can see you." I say as I start jogging towards him.
"Thank you." He said, sounding as if he was fading away.
"Are you okay Kellin?" I ask him worriedly into the phone, I'm close to him now, just 30 seconds and I'll be there.
I don't get an answer and I can see his silhouette more clearly now, seem to slump against the tree. Panic rushes through me immediately as I hang up the phone, put it in my pocket, and rush over to him.
