"Yo lets go!" Hakeem yelled waving keys in his hand.

"I thought mama was working today."

He shook his head, "She is. But, later."

I scoffed, "Can I drive? You drive too crazy for me."

We walked down the stairs, "Just sit back and relax." he said softly.

"I'm definitely not sitting in the front with yo crazy ass." I mumbled.

He snapped his neck and looked at me, "Chill."

Hakeem opened the door and unlocked the car.

Jessica paced closely behind me with her arms tightly folded. I crawled into the back seat and Hakeem started the car.

He started to reverse until he slammed on the breaks causing my head to crash into the seat.

I smacked my lips, "See this that shit..."

Hakeem analyzed Jessica. He didn't look at her like she was a piece of meat but as if something was throwing him off.

He nodded his head, " You might want to pull ya collar up."

He continued reversing and Jess moved uncomfortably in her seat.

*^*^*

I slammed the car door and rubbed my neck, "He cannot drive for shit." I complained.

"We should've just took the bus." Jessica shook her head following me.

"Yeah, y'all do that next time. I don't appreciate y'all talking shit about my driving." -he locked the car- "Be thankful that I let y'all get in." he nagged.

Our feet shuffled against the concrete before Hakeem banged on the back gym door

The door swung open, "You have to go through the front door." The fragile woman's attitude rang.

"Yo, you already opened the door can you just let us in." Hakeem retorted.

"No..no...you go through the front." She closed the door slowly on our faces.

"Ughhhh!" -Jessica grunted- "I'm tired of walking. We walked over here for no reason. Can we just drive back to your house?" She slid down the door and sat.

Hakeem snapped his neck, "Gurl if you don't get ya ass up and walk to this door!"

Jess looked around confused, "Please, tell me who you're talkin to." she put her hand on her chest.

"I'm talking to yo ass now get the fuck up!"

I put my hand up, "Ugh, alright Hakeem. Go, we'll meet you over there." I waved him off and he smacked his lips before walking away.

Jess scrunched her face, "What is his problem?"

"Girl he's always jumpy like that." -I waved my hands- "He just wants you in the school at this point he's worried about you."

She shook her head, "How would you know?" She questioned.

I held my hand out, "Trust me, I know. That's my brother." She took my hand and I helped her up.

She fiddled with the buttons on her jacket, "Moani, I don't want to go in that school." she mumbled.

We started walking, "You can't just stay home. The first two weeks of school are the most important."

"It's not that it's just..."

"Tyler?"-I rubbed her shoulder- "I know just make sure you're not alone in the hallways so you don't get into with him."

"I guess..."

We met up with Hakeem who was angrily slamming his hand on the glass door, "Hakeem!" I yelled and he turned his head with furrowed eyebrows.

"Man, that fat head ass lady just said go to the front and nobody opening the door." He whined.

I walked towards the door, "Please, calm down you look like a maniac." He moved out the way and I pulled the door open.

I scoffed, "Really, Hakeem you-"

He walked in, "Fuck up..." He mumbled clearly embarrassed.

"I'm going to need you to stop cussing me out like that!" I yelled behind him.

He turned around and stuck his middle fingers in the air with his tongue out.

"Ugly roach..." I mumbled as me and Jess walked in.

We walked through the corridor until we finally reached the gym. We went in and I could see Jess walking with her head down.

I was headed where I'd been sitting for the last two days but, to my surprise Dynasty was there with a whole group of girls. Pettiness on level 100. But it was fine. There was plenty of seats left considering how early we were.

I saw Dynasty whisper to one of the girls before they both looked in my direction.

I headed up the stairs beside them, "Jess!" A girl screamed and we stopped to look.

"Oh..." Jess mumbled. She walked down the stairs and gave the girl a hug. Dynasty said something to her.

Jess looked at me, "I'm going to sit right here."

I nodded my head and continued up the bleachers. I sat at the very top.

I looked around and put in my earbuds.

Me and Jess made awkward eye contact. She looked like she was uncomfortable sitting there.

Jess stood up trying to make her way to the stairs but, Dynasty grabbed her arm. Jess let out a nervous chuckle before wiggling out of her grip.

She made her way over to me and rubbed her arm, "Hey. Sorry I took so long but they just kept begging me to stay.."

I chuckled, "You looked uncomfortable sitting there."

"I was. They just kept saying all this junk about you but I know for a fact they were just making up things so I wouldn't talk to you."

I knew it.

"Of course, I guess Dynasty is there ring leader and she's mad that I told her off yesterday."

"Yeah.." -She shook her head- "That girl. The one that called me. That's Layla she was my best friend but she's changed over the summer."

"How so?" I turned to face her.

"Uh-" she looked around avoiding eye contact.

"Oh. You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."

"No, it's fine." - she fiddled with the hem of her shirt- "Over the summer she started hanging out with Dynasty a lot more. She kinda forgot about me. There's a lot more, it's just that I don't want to be messy or anything."

"It's fine. I see where you're coming from. But I'm not one of those messy females I listen and don't tell just an fyi." I whispered as Dynasty turned around to give me a stank face.

A boy announced, "Wassup!" Both of us looked at him.
