🌹M•O•A•N•I🌹

It was finally October, and Lucas and I were going out almost every day. My mom was oblivious to our relationship. She thought I was staying at Dynasty's house after school. It was getting harder to keep my stories straight. My mom believed Dynasty's neighborhood wasn't safe, but in her mind she was allowing me to stay because she thought Dynasty was a good role model. She was like a second daughter to her. If I told my mom about our separation, she'd say, "Sisters fight Nene, but they always make up."

I sat at a dinner table across from Lucas. He insisted on taking me to this preppy 5-star restaurant even though I'd rather be at Wendy's. I looked at the menu and didn't know how to pronounce anything.

I peeked above my menu and laid it on the table with a huff, "Lucas, I appreciate you taking me here, but I don't know what any of this food is."

He looked up from his menu and intertwined his hand with mine, "It's easy just order the fried cuisine."

I squinted my eyes and flipped the menu over, "... And where you see that at?" He swiftly pointed at the title without looking. "I look so stupid. How did I not see that? I swear I read this menu 5 times." I put my hand on my forehead.

He snickered and pulled my hand from my face, "Chill. You don't look stupid. I had that same look on my face when I came here for the first time."

I smirked, "Oh really? Tell me about it."

"Well, my mom was real bougie and came from eating with silver spoons. She forced my pops to come here because this was her favorite restaurant as a kid. She refused to go to any restaurant in his hood because she swore it was dirty and filled to the brim with roaches. Those are her exact words... not mine. Long story short both me and my dad didn't understand a thing on this menu, but me being the scholar I am I found the fried cuisine and I been ordering it ever since."

"You come here by yourself?"

"Yeah, but mainly for business meet—" He pulled his phone out of his pocket and held up a finger. "Get me what you getting with a coke..." He touched my hand and walked out.

I sighed and folded my arms. Every time we went out he'd get a 'business call' and we would leave. I gazed out the window and saw him yelling at whoever was on the other line.

A male waiter came over, "Would you like to place your order?"

I shook my head, "Just give me a slice of key lime pie to-go if you have one... and the bill." I put my elbow on the table and leaned on my hand.

He raised his eyebrows, "The bill's already paid for madam, but I will be right over with your pie."

How did Lucas pay the bill if we ordered nothing? I didn't know reservations worked like that in restaurants.

Lucas rushed over, "I'm sorry, but we have to go. Things just went down at the warehouse."

The waiter sat a mini to-go box on the table, "Have a nice night."

I stood up and picked up my to-go box, "What happened?" I pulled my dress down.

"Can't say just know it's crucial I get down there."

I trailed him out of the restaurant, and the icy air nipped at my exposed body. It was definitely the wrong day to wear a tube dress. Lucas paced for the car and opened the passenger-side door, I slid in and he slammed it closed. He jogged to the other side and hopped in. He pushed start and then turned on the two seat warmers.

He put the car in reverse and attempted to back out but the car stopped and a blue snowflake appeared on the dashboard, "Fuck bro! I don't have time for this shit."
