Alyssa traced her mother's name, carved into her gravestone. Hanna Grey. She placed down the flowers ,that varied in color, very delicately by Hanna's flower and trinket collection with the picture of Alyssa and Hanna side by side protected with a dark wooden frame, that stood out in the middle.

"Hi, mom." the girl began to say to her mother. She would often come to her mother's grave and talk to her. A way of coping with the loss of a parent. The only parent that mattered to her. "Anna has now moved to Canada with her new family, I said goodbye to her yesterday, and Derek keeps suggesting I see a counsellor when I start at my new school, but..." She pauses for a moment, waiting for the lump in her throat to finally go down. She won't cry today, too.

"...I don't feel I need one when I have you." she smiled with tears that fell to the ground. "I wish you were here with me, but you left me." Alyssa began to cry into her hands and failed to try and control herself. She let out on the final sob before taking a deep breath. Alyssa rose up from her sitting position and took one final look at Hanna's grave before she said her final goodbye and left the cemetary. Alyssa much prefered going alone. It was easier to let out her feelings to her mother without the feeling of being judged. Her grave was her only connection the girl had left. Alyssa walked through the large steel gates that creaked from the slightest movement caused by the wind and into the lonely street. The brick buildings towered over her, the only thing that filled the dead street beside the girl herself. The wind made her dark hair dance behind her before collapsing onto her hood until they flew again. Her blue eyes scanned the street, and no living thing was in sight. Alyssa finally approached their house and turned the handle, allowing her to enter. "I'm back," she called out, closing the door behind her, feeling a cold breeze sweep past her.

"You alright?" Derek immediately asked her after hearing the door close

"Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, removing her jacket, avoiding eye contact that caused a red flag in the agent's mind.

"Alyssa, remember what we talked about. You can talk to me, you know that"

"I know, and I do talk to you. When I'm ready, "

The two left it at that, leaving the silence to hold for a few seconds until someone spoke to break it.

"I was about to make dinner. What would you like?" Morgan asked the girl

"I already had dinner, I bought something at the store down the block," the girl lied, often losing her appetite when visiting her mother. Morgan noticed, and his eyes narrowed.

"With what?" asked he, attempting to catch her out on her obvious lie

"I found some money in my pocket."

"You've been conveniently 'finding' money in your pocket for the past week,"

Alyssa didn't use her efforts to continue. This was a profiler she was up against. She rolled her eyes, admitting defeat, and came clean. Alyssa needed time to recover from her trauma however, was too stubborn to admit help and often remained isolated and reclusive towards others. Derek led Alyssa to the kitchen and sat by the island.

"Talk," he said to her. Alyssa took a breath of frustration.

"Just nervous, starting a high school tomorrow, especially without my mom," she revealed. Starting a new school should be exciting, but she was dreading it. The girl looked down at the floor. Derek took her hand, and she looked up at him.

"It's going to be alright," he assured her. Alyssa smiled and felt slightly uplifted. Together, they had dinner, and afterwards, Derek helped Alyssa prep for her first day. Alyssa enjoyed having a real family again. Someone who really cared and had a father figure in her life. Growing up, Alyssa's mother never dated anyone else. She never really knew why and just assumed that her mother always prioritized her. However, now she believed Scott was the real reason Hanna stopped dating other people.
