She hit the door with her fists trying to attract attention, but no one came. The alarm continued to yell through the hallways. Everyone was probably outside already. Her sight became blurry. Was it the smoke? She didn't know. Alyssa found it hard to contain her coughing and hacking, but it was too much. She pulled off her jacket frantically, waving it in the air, and tried her phone again, but there was still no signal. Grey smoke filled the room, and it felt like there was no oxygen in the air. The door remained glued shut, and the alarm blared so loud throughout the building that it was enough to drive anyone crazy. Screaming for help wasn't helping, especially how the constant coughing drained any remaining energy the girl had left. She fell to the floor, admitting defeat. It wasn't long until the whole room didn't resemble a room anymore. Just smoke.  All was a haze. This couldn't be the end. Could it? These swirling thoughts seemed to be endless as Alyssa came to terms with her soon to be death.

Meanwhile...

Derek sat by his desk, constantly glancing back and forth at his phone. Questioning himself. Guilty was an understatement to describe how he felt. He feared for his relationship with Alyssa. Could it ever be fixed?

"Are you OK?" Prentiss asked from the desk across, Morgan looked away from his phone, changing his direction to Emily. He explained everything to her, their arguments, Alyssa's new friends, her visits to the principal's office, and how he didn't know whether to call Alyssa or wait until the whole blew over.

"Actions speak louder than words, and I think she'll be alright. She's got you looking out for her," she assured him. All of a sudden, JJ came rushing down the stairs as if something was chasing her, attracting everyone's attention.

"Morgan, you're gonna want to take this," she said quickly. It was obvious she was shaken up, which made everyone else feel the same. He took the phone from her hands after a few moments, trying to understand why JJ was so nervous and shaken. Holding the phone to his ear, he never would have guessed.

Alyssa regained her sight at last, but her confusion remained. Everything was going way too fast for her brain to keep up. She was swept from the floor, her head leaning back where she could see fluorescent lights on the ceiling. The dazed girl could hear voices and many of them. She realized she was being carried by someone but couldn't distinguish who or what. The sound of squeaking wheels came closer and closer as she was placed on something hard with a soft cushion under her head, and something was placed over nose and mouth. She still had no idea where she was or what was happening, and she felt forced to trust who or what was there with her. Too many voices were speaking at once. Too many noises were in the air, and there were too many things going on at once. She could feel herself being carried away. A breeze swept past her as she saw what she believed was daylight. Was it always this bright? There was the sound of wheels that followed her and the inaudible conversations from all directions.
