"Anything specific?" Ally asked, unsure what to start with

"How did my parents meet each other?" Alyssa came up with

"They'd known each other a long time. As I said, we were neighbours,  we all became fast friends. Scott started dating Hanna about... they must've been... I think 16 or 17. I remember that Hanna was a year younger than him. "

"16? They'd been together since they were 16?" Alyssa was beyond surprise as she thought of her parent's story. They started dating when they were 16, and if she remembered correctly, about 11 years later, he started killing families. And 1 year after that, Hanna became pregnant. With her.

"Scott and I stopped talking when he turned 18 and left the foster system without looking back, but Hanna and I kept in contact, not as frequent, especially when she became pregnant. When Scott was put away, she sought help from an old friend. "

"Which old friend?" This was new   to her. However, everything she was hearing was new to her.

"I never knew. Your mother and I gradually stopped talking, not only to me but everyone around her, " Ally explained. She placed Destiny on the floor, careful of the toys surrounding the floor. "Destiny, why don't you go to your room and play?" she smiled

"Okay, mommy," Destiny replied, picking up a doll from the floor and running to her room with it.

"Where's her dad?" Alyssa curiously asked her

"He left 3 years ago when he found out I was pregnant."

"I'm so sorry, I didn't know." Alyssa was quick to apologize, instantly regretting her question.

"Don't worry about it, Alyssa. I'm fine here, and it's all in the past. Did you have any other questions?"

Yes, yes, she did. Alyssa had a lot of questions. If written, it would be 10 pages long.

"Do you know why he started killing families." she asked, triggering a sigh from Ally. Her eyes moved away, like she was reliving or remembering it and most certainly not enjoying it. Just when she started to answer, Alyssa's phone buzzed.

"Sorry, just one sec," the girl excused, pulling her phone from her dark colored jacket pocket. It was Derek asking if she needed picking up. "I'm so sorry, I need to go."

"That's alright, we can rearrange, it's no problem," Ally responded nicely. She called Destiny's name, and the three year old came trotting from her room and approached her mother. They walked to the door, and Ally opened it for Alyssa.

"I'll see you soon, Ally," the girl said

"Bye, Alyssa. Say goodbye, Destiny. " Ally smiled down, making eye contact with her daughter. Destiny hesitated for a few moments.

"Bye-bye," she said, giving Alyssa a little wave. Alyssa bent down a little, returning the little wave, making Destiny smile. Alyssa also smiled and said goodbye once more before leaving. She raced down two flights of stairs and out the glass door. She messaged Derek, knowing she couldn't wait too long to reply or he'll worry. She asked for 5 minutes and raced back to the school, feeling the wind through her and different colored cars drive by. When she arrived, she pushed her hand
against the tree, her head lowered as she regained her breath back. Only a few seconds later, Derek pulled up in the empty parking lot. That was definitely not 5 minutes. Was it? Regardless, she was grateful she had arrived just in time. A few seconds later and it would all be over. Alyssa climbed into the car, slammed the car door shut, pulled her seat-belt in front of her, and clicked it into place.

"How was it?" Derek asked, referring to her 'counsellors meeting'. Alyssa thought fast through her lies. She told herself, "Go into detail, and he won't suspect a thing."

"Yeah, It was great. Mrs Simons just asked me a few questions like: How's school? How's home? How are your friends? How are your nightmares? It was weird at first, but I think I'll get used to it with time." She replied, tucking a strand of her dark, wavy hair behind her left ear.

Derek nodded and began to drive them both home. Foolproof.
