Alyssa rested on the couch, slowly recovering. Her phone lay on the coffee table beside her. She checked the time: 12:17pm. Her  eyes widened when she came to realize that she'd slept for over 4 hours. She returned to her original position, her sweaty head on the pillow cuddling the paper thin blanket.  She rubbed her azure eyes, which were more tired than she was, as Derek approached her.

"Hey, you're awake. What would you like to eat?" He asked, kneeling in front of her.

"I'm not hungry," Alyssa protested

"Alyssa, you need to eat. Your body needs the energy to fight whatever this is"

Alyssa sighed, admitting defeat. She had no energy to argue, and she knew Derek was wrong, but she couldn't tell him the truth. "Fine, but I'm going to the bathroom first,"

"Are you feeling okay?"

"I'm fine. Just freshening up. " Alyssa walked away to the bathroom and closed the door. She walked towards the sink and caught a glimpse of her frail self in the mirror, staring back at her. It didn't look like the normal her at all, and she regretted last night. The girl splashed cold water on her face, and she'd never know something to be so refreshing. Alyssa dried her face and walked back out, where she saw a concerned Derek standing near the couch. He noticed her, showing Alyssa her phone in his hand.

"Explain this, Alyssa," he demanded. She walked up and read the notification displayed on her phone.

Kara
Can't handle your drink, huh? First hangover's always the worst! Fee...

The sentence cut off at the end and left Alyssa stunned.

"I hate to do this when you're sick, Alyssa, but..." Derek began sounding calm until his tone angered."What the hell did you do last night and don't bother with the 'it wasn't me' excuse? "

Alyssa felt hurt. Even when she had been called to the principal's office, Derek wasn't this angry or upset. It was a mixture of both emotions this time that hurt her and hurt Derek, too. He didn't want to believe his idea of what Alyssa had done when, in actual fact, it was slightly worse than what he was thinking. Alyssa remained silent, scared she would burst into tears if she even opened her mouth or made eye contact.

"Look at me, Alyssa, and tell me the truth," Derek demanded, but Alyssa was still in shock, that she couldn't move. She stayed frozen in place. "I said, look... at...me, " he demanded again, slightly louder. But the only words that came out of her mouth were,

"I'm sorry." Almost in a whisper. Derek placed Alyssa's phone on the table and buried his face in his hands in disappointment as he thought to himself, how could she do this? How could she be so irresponsible?  This whole time, she wasn't sick. She was hungover. And still is!

"Derek, I-" The apologetic girl began to say

"You complain that I don't trust you, and when I do, you do this. How could you be so irresponsible, Alyssa?!" Derek interrupted. He hated doing this when she was feeling sick, but he's overwhelmed with anger and disappointment that she did this to herself.

"I know, I'm sorry," she apologized. Her guilt overpowered her nausea, leaving her with a huge headache and huge regret for what she did. Derek stayed silent, hoping this wasn't real. This wasn't like Alyssa at all. What happened to the old Alyssa he knew well, the Alyssa that trusted him, would talk to him?

"How much did you drink last night? And what did you drink?"

"I-I...I don't know," she hesitated. She didn't realize until now that she had no idea what Erica had given her

"You don't know? How can you not know? Did you just lose common sense, Alyssa?" Derek yelled

"Wait, Derek..." Alyssa called when Derek turned to walk away from her, towards the stairs.

"You can rest in your room. If you need anything, you tell me"

"I need you to listen to me," Alyssa replied, but he ignored her. She heard his door slam shut, and she ran to her own room. She closed the door and fell to the floor and cried.
