(So... re reading this, I have realized that this is literally one of my worst stories I got here lmao. Imma keep it up, but warning it is really bad.)

Keith and Lance are in the 8th grade

Keith's POV

Oh, valentines day, the one day of the year that I despised mostly because of how hyped up it was. It was the one day I would beg my foster mom to let me stay home so that the kids at school wouldn't tease me about not getting anything again. But like always she made me go.

I walk to school alone because my best friend, Hunk, had some before school thing he had to go to. When I get to school everyone is talking with their clicks. there is a lot of chatter about people asking out their crushes, but there was one name that I heard being tossed around a lot like usual, Lance.

Lance was the most popular guy in grade 8 he was asked out more than any guy in the whole school but from what I've heard he has only excepted someone's feelings once. They ended up breaking up a month later. He was also the first and only person I had ever had a crush on.

I make my way over to my locker where I saw Hunk waiting.

"I hate Valentine's day," I grumble as I walk up to my locker.

"It can't be that bad," Hunk said leaning up against the lockers with his books in his arms. I look over at him like he's crazy. "Oh come on, I bet there's plenty of girls that would love to ask you out but are just too shy." I give him another side glance.

"I wouldn't accept it though." Hunk looks a bit confused, did he seriously forget. "Remember..." I give him a second to try and figure it out himself "Dude I told you like a year ago, I'm gay." I make a small hand gesture as I whisper the last part.

I could see the moment the words clicked in his brain. "I'm so sorry I forgot Keith."

"It's fine I don't expect my best friend to remember my sexuality anyway," I say sarcastically as I turn my back to Hunk.

"I'm so so so sorry Keith, I am, please don't leave." I turn around with a small smile on my face.

"You're my only friend, if I left you I would be alone for the rest of my life." We both start laughing and I get my stuff from my locker and close the door.

We head upstairs to my science class and Hunk goes to his French class. We only had 2 classes together this semester, and because of that, I didn't talk a lot in any of my classes unless the teacher called on me.

I walk into class and sit at my desk. Everyone was handing out valentines to their friends and crushes. I open the book that I had brought to class in the hopes that no one would try to talk with me, even though they never did.

I turn the page and hear someone ask "what book is that?"

I read a bit more than realize the question was directed at me. "Oh um... it's." I turn the book over so the person asking could read the curve.

"'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' Oh I've heard of that before, but I've never gotten around to reading the books, is it a good series?"

I look up to see whos talking to me. And today was just my luck... it was Lance. I didn't trust my voice to not squeak so all I did was nod.

"You don't talk a lot do you," Lance asked. I was about to say something but he cut in before I could "that's fine most people are quiet around me when they first meat me, the names Lance." he flashes a smile. God, he was so cocky.

"Ya I know," I managed to say quietly. Lance smiled at me, but all I could do was stare into his beautiful blue eyes.

"So you do talk." Lance pulls a chair up to the desk beside me and sits down. "I hope no one was going to sit here," he said with another smile.

I shake my head then look back down at my desk. To my surprise there was a valentine on it I picked it up and chocolate fell out of it and into my lap. I open up the letter and it says 'from Lance'.

"I-I think y-you put this o-on the wrong desk," I say pushing the letter and chocolate back over to Lance.

"Nope this was for you." he pushes it back over to my desk.

"Why?" is all I say when I pick the letter back up

"I've noticed you don't ever talk to anyone except for the teacher. And when I see you around the school you're always alone and look sad, so I thought that I could brighten your day with a Valentine." I start to blush at the thought of Lance paying attention to me.

other than Hunk, Lance the only person in this school that's been genuinely nice to me, or given me a genuine Valentin that wasn't out of pity. "Thanks." he gives me another smile and my heart decides to stop working for a second.

Our class begins and or teacher lets us have a free period because it's Valentine's day. I expect Lance to go back over to his friends but he doesn't.

"So what's that book of yours about?" Why is he being so nice it's not like we're friends.

"Oh umm... w-well umm t-there's this b-boy, a-and he's a wizard," I continue explaining the storyline stumbling over almost every word. Lance doesn't laugh when I stumble over my words, he just smiles and listens, giving a nod now and then, it was nice.

When I was done explaining the story Lance continued to talk to me. Half the time I could barely focus on what he was saying because I was trying to figure out why he was being so nice to me.

Eventually class ends and I collect my stuff. When I pick up my binder but it slips out of my hands and papers go flying. "Shit," I whisper under my breath. A couple of kids walk by and kick a few papers 'accidentally'.

I knelt to pick up all of my papers and see the second pair of hands picking up the papers as well. I look up and to my surprise, it was Lance "you need a better binder," he says with a laugh.

'Y-ya I know," I manage to stutter out. As we pick up the papers our hands brush together a bit and I can't help but blush at the feeling of his soft hands. We finish picking up the papers and I shove them in my now broken binder. I say thanks to Lance then leave attempting to get to my next class on time.

as I run down the stairs and hear footsteps behind me "hey Keith!!" I turn around and see Hunk. "hey why's your face all red."

"Oh I-I'll tell you at lunch," I say smiling at the floor. We head off to our next class, geography, which luckily we have together.

(well that was a mess and a half😂 , either way, hope you liked it?)
