part 8

Keith's POV right before they entered the house.

"So... uhh don't be surprised i-if my mom and Shiro act a bit weird t-there n-not used to me having anyone b-but Hunk over, there n-not used to me having m-more than one friend so..." I said scratching the back of my neck.

I took a small breath and opened the door. "Mom I'm home," I said as I walked in. "And I brought a friend." Lance walked in behind me.

"Hi Hu-" she started when she looked around the corner from the kitchen. "You're not Hunk," she said half startled and half delighted.

"Hi I'm Lance it's nice to meet you." As soon as he said his name my mom's face light up.

I heard a loud "who's there" from Shiro up in his room.

"It's Keith and Lance," she replied still smiling. She had said Lance's name a bit louder than mine but Lance didn't seem to notice or care.

I heard a small gasp of excitement come from upstairs followed by Shiro running down the stairs.

"I'm Shiro," he said once he reached the bottom of the stairs. He extended his hand and Lance shook it. Shiro's face was almost as bright as Mom's.

Before anyone could ask further questions I grabbed Lance's hand and headed for the stairs. "We're going up to do homework so please don't disturb us."

'AHHHH what was I thinking grabbing Lance's hand??' But his skin was soft and I wanted to hold onto it forever, but as soon as we got to the top of the stairs I let go thinking it might get weird if I hold on any longer.

"My roomes t-this way," I said going down the hall a bit before turning into my room. "Sorry about my mom and Shiro."

"It's fine my family's much crazier, I often do my homework outside so they don't bother me." I laughed a bit. "No really I live with 4 siblings my house is just crazy."

"Oh wow, that's a lot."

"Ya, your lucky you only have one brother." He lets out a small sigh. "But it's also nice having a big family."

We sit in silence for a bit "should we get to the homework?" I ask.

"Probably."

For once I felt like I could actually talk to Lance and not just stumble out answers or questions. "Alright, what questions are you stuck on."

"Well I have 2,3,4 and I figured out 5 and 6, Ummm and I have..." He posed a moment to grab his notebook and check. "7... and 8."

"Wow ok well let's start with question 2."

We got threw 2, 3 and 4 then decided to take a small break. "You hungry?" I asked.

"A little." Lance looked up from his textbook. "What do you have?"

"I'll go and check." I left my room and at the top of the stairs, I heard mom talking to Shiro.

"They've been quiet... do you think they're making out???" my mom asked excitedly.

"They just started talking yesterday so unless Lance is that bold to kiss him then they're probably just doing homework as they said." I saw my mom's face was a bit disappointed.

I walked down the stairs not wanting to hear whatever else my mom had cooked up in her brain. "Hey, mom do we have any snacks in the house?" I asked before they could continue talking.

"Um I think so there should be cheese and crackers in the top cupboard." She pointed to the cupboard beside the fridge.

I cut up some cheese and put the crackers on a plate and headed back upstairs. When I got to the door I heard some talking
