Chapter 18: Worries

It's been an odd 10 months. With each day that went by Karamatsu seemed to become more nervous and worried. I had asked about it but he just said it was because my birthday was coming up, which was true, so I left it alone.

However, I was worried when one day he returned home really late. Later than normal. I was assuming the worst but I assured myself that he would never go back to being in that state of mind...but then I thought

What if he is cheating on me?

I was so scared to think that and tried ignoring it but as the days went on, nearing my birthday, Karamatsu was acting more suspicious. I tried hard and desperately to rid my mind of these thoughts.

You see I had a few mental issues myself. I had paranoia, anxiety, and slight depression. Even though I suffered from these issues they didn't really interfere to much. Except now. And I did have slight trust issues because of a situation that happened years ago.

When the day of my birth came I didn't want to leave my bed. However, Karamatsu woke me up, very enthusiastically might I add, he forced me out of bed and I took a shower. I sighed as I changed and smelled something amazing.

Curious I walk out of my room and saw Karamatsu cooking pancakes for breakfast. Well that explains the smell I thought as Karamatsu looked over. "Happy Birthday my love!" He greeted and sat me down. "There's this little fair going on today so I decided to take you. I also made a reservation at a restaurant in town for dinner. I want you to have fun today." He says and I blush lightly "um..Is anyone else going?" I ask and Karamatsu shook his head "just you and me hon."

I smile and nod "okay. Thanks for making breakfast." I say as he placed a plate down and he smiled before kissing me "it's my pleasure dear." He says and kissed my temple before he cleaned up the kitchen.

As I ate I scolded myself for thinking Karamatsu would ever cheat on me. I laughed a bit at my paranoia getting in the way of my reasoning.

Okay so the fair was amazing. There was so many games to play and I even got to see f/n who was on a date with Ichimatsu. Of course Ichimatsu became flustered as me and f/n chatted about him and Karamatsu. I did notice a moment where Ichimatsu whispered something to Karamatsu. Whatever he said made Karamatsu blush and nod.

Anyway, I was dressing up for dinner with Karamatsu. I saw him change into the suit that he and his brothers had. I hadn't seen him wear it in a while and I thought he looked so cute. I simply chose a long blue dress with a white cardigan with a matching headband. I had my hair in tight curls which Karamatsu seemed to love. We had our dogs watched over by a very willing Jyushimatsu and Homura. We were about to leave when Karamatsu run back in saying he forgot his phone. I laughed at his forgetfulness and after retrieving his phone we left.

We were seated in a short amount of time and after we ordered we made small talk. "I don't know how you do it." He says suddenly and I tilt my head "what do you mean?" He smiled and took my hand in his. "How you manage to look even more beautiful with each passing day. I've been with you for a year and you look more beautiful than ever."
I blushed and Karamatsu leaned over kissing me. "Happy Birthday."

After we ate and waited for the bill. Karamatsu smiled fondly "I have a surprise for you." He says and I smirk "ooh~ a surprise. what is it?" I ask playfully but with genuine excitement. I watched him stand up and walk over to me. I turned my chair to face him as he took my hand again "Y/n I love you with all my heart. You saved me from, well, myself" he chuckled and I did too

"I love the time we spent together. I'm proud to call you my girlfriend." I smiled "I love you with all my being and would never wish for anything to change. We took many steps to get where we are now and now.." he paused and got that nervous look in his eye before pulling his hand back and reached into the inside pocket of his suit. He took out a jewelry box and looked me in the eyes.

"Y/n?" He went into a kneeling position in front of me and opened the box to reveal the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. I clasp my hands over my mouth in shock.

"Will you marry me?"

I blushed and felt tears leave my eyes. I nod rapidly "Yes! Yes of course!" I exclaimed and heard the immediate cheering of the other restaurant attendees, I swear I heard a woman say I thought they were already married, Karamatsu slid the ring on and I pulled him into kiss as another set of tears left my eyes.

I was so happy on the way home. I held onto Karamatsu's arm as we approached our home. When we opened the door I was surprised to see everyone Karamatsu and I knew in my house. Totoko turned and in a cheery voice asks "Well! What's the news?!" A question with a simple and pretty obvious answer.

"We're engaged!" I shout holding up my left hand and everyone cheers and applauded the news, though most knew the answer. Karamatsu's parents seemed the most happy but I knew everyone was happy.
