It was the fourth of July.
You and I were.
You and I were fire.
Fire.
Fireworks.
That went off too soon.
And I miss you in the June gloom too.
"What is the fourth of July?" Taehyung asked as he set up patriotic streamers in the park.
Skylar turned to him. "You've never heard of it?"
"No, I have. I've just never really understood what it was."
Skylar nodded, setting down the streamers she was putting up.
"It's the day that the United States became free from Great Britain." She explained.
"We used to pay them taxes over stuff like sugar. We were tired of it and wanted to become a free and seperate nation from them." Hazel chimed in.
"We went to war and won, which helped us to become free. The declaration of independence was signed and we weren't a part of great Britain anymore." Skylar finished.
"So... What your saying, is that you didn't like paying taxes on sugar?" Namjoon asked.
The girls laughed.
"We also played taxes on tea bags too." Acacia said.
"Is that where the phrase spill the tea comes from?" Yoongi asked.
"Well, no, but we did pretend to be Indians and dumped a lot of tea off a ship. So it kind of works." Skylar offered.
"Huh. You guys are weird." Hoseok said as he placed flags all around.
"Oh, Sunshine Boy." Hazel shook her head. "Are you calling us weird or our country?"
Hoseok thought for a minute. "Both." He grinned.
"Don't make me chase you down with one of those flags." Acacia teased.
"No! My flags!"
"Says the Korean." Skylar chuckled.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." Hoseok huffed.
Soon, a firework went off in the sky.
"Ahh!" Yoongi screamed.
Everyone else laughed and cheered as they sat to watch the show.
"Happy fourth, everyone." Taehyung said, smiling.
"Happy fourth." Hazel responded.
