I felt my heart rate increase as the two dragons began to close on each other. Doron's enormous wings propelled him up as his opponent folded his wings down to his sides, dropping towards us. As the two closed on each other, Doron spat fire far out in front of him, hoping to take down his opponent before things escalated. The diving dragon quickly spread his wings and rolling to the side, dodging the lethal flames before returning with his own fire, though considerably less of it.

"Get after them!" I shouted.

Doron slowly rolled over and started after his target. The two of them dove towards the ground, engaging in a dizzying series of twists and turns, each trying to land a fatal hit on the other. Veracon and Ragon both made diving passes at the dragon, but they were both to big to not get in each others way. Amy looked down at me as she fly over head, shaking her head to indicate that the attack had been unsuccessful, and that she was breaking off to rejoin the fighting on the ground. All at once, every dragon near us, which was seven in total, dove on the lone dragon, blasting it with flames. I watched for a moment, and was shocked by the sight of the dragon bursting through the cloud of smoke and flames that was dispersing amongst the otherwise clear air around it.

"Get the others out of here. It'll just kill them all. This one's for you and me." I shouted.

Doron clicked back and forth with the others, before they all turned and rejoined Amy, Tahli and Bailey attacking the soldiers on the ground. I debated whether or not my decision was the right one, but I knew that it was far to risky to allow any of them to engage with another dragon. Should we lose to many, we would be left virtually defenceless.

I turned my attention back to the dragon and his rider. Doron went into a circling with his opponent, both volleying for a position to attack on the other. While Doron was much Larger, and more heavily armoured, a strike in the right place would easily kill him. On the other hand, the smaller dragon couldn't just blindly attack Doron, as it would be rather easy for Doron to take him down with one quick blast of flame in the right spot. I looked at the rider. While I couldn't see his eyes, I could feel the eye contact create more tension between us than I care to remember. It was a fight of speed versus size, both deadly attributes, but in very different ways. The two circled each other for several minutes. I could sense the tension between the two of them growing by the second, then, out of no where, the dragon shot up towards the clouds. Doron gave chase, but lost it as it vanished into the clouds above. Regardless, Doron persisted into the clouds, until he came through them.

I looked around.

"Nothing. It's gone." I said.

But, I felt something was still wrong. I instinctively looked over my shoulder, and was caught off guard by the dragon racing towards us, with his rider clinging to his back, almost laying on his front side.

"Behind you!" I shouted.

Doron snapped his head over, and tried to roll his body in time, but the dragon reached him before he managed to roll over completely. Spitting fire at Doron, the attacker underestimated the size of Doron's body, and slammed into it as he tried to bank away for another attack. Partially burnt from the blast of flame, Doron screeched in pain as the two dragons began clawing at each other, becoming entangled briefly. Doron breathed fire as he swayed his head back and forth, trying to hit his target, but failed every time due to his size. The dragon clung to his chest as he blasted flame at Doron's wings and head, trying to bring him down. But Doron was flying smart. He rolled, banked, dove and flipped, keeping his attacker from properly aiming his blasts of flame. Why the dragon didn't unlatch himself from Doron, I didn't know. I figured it was just his lack of fighting experience with dragons of Doron's size. Regardless, the two were now locked in a deadly match that could easily claim both of their lives, should it not end in some manner shortly.

"Kill it! Crush it with your claws! Rip it apart with your teeth! Anything! Just kill it!" I screamed as I held on for my life to Doron's scales.

Doron screeched in pain again as the smaller dragon dug its teeth into his shoulder at the base of his wing, causing him to start dropping towards the ground, as he could not keep his wing stretched out any longer.

"We're going to die here." I thought to myself.
