Through the clouds, a familiar sight. The sight of our village, our home, or so we had convinced ourselves. As we approached, I could see May sitting at the villages edge, with a crowd of several hundred people gathered in a clearing, surrounded by tends and shacks. Doron and Magar circled over the camp twice before setting down, the two of them reconciling with May as soon as Bailey and I had dismounted. I broke into a brisk jog as Sir Ivan and half a dozen men emerged from the crowd, only stopping when we met.
"How is she?" I asked.
"Still alive, but her injuries are rather severe." He replied.
He then looked around, watching the three dragons nudge each other as the sun dipped lower and lower into the sky. He grew a confused look, before looking back to Bailey and I.
"What's happened to the fourth? The girl hasn't been coherent enough to speak since the little one brought her back." He asked.
I shook my head, scrunching my lips together.
"Shot down and killed. She was lucky to survive when her dragon was shot from under her." I replied.
Sir Ivan sighed, before motioning for me to follow and turning back towards the crowd. We made our way through the mass of people, and were soon met with the sight of Amy laying in the grass, with only a thin sheet between her and the ground. James and Jamie were both sitting silently with one of the maids, both of them clinging to the young woman who had been tending to them as though they had been traumatized by what they had seen prior to my return. I ran over to them both, and dropped to my knees as they jumped up to hug me. I cried and squeezed them both in my arms, before giving them each a kiss on the forehead. The maid stood behind them, before I reached out and hugged her as well.
"Thank you." I said through tears.
She nodded and smiled, before tilting her head to the side, looking at Amy. I turned around as Bailey and Sir Ivan knelt down beside her, both of them with concern in their eyes. I approached her, looking her over for injuries. Her leg had been bleeding immensely, and her head had a large cut on the back that I hadn't noticed initially.
"Why is she unable to wake? Those injuries surely aren't fatal on their own." I said nervously.
An elderly woman stepped forward, holding a bloody rag in her right hand.
"Her insides have been hurt in her fall. Her chances are slim. She will bleed to death in due time unless her luck is high." The old woman said in a raspy voice.
I sighed, before kneeling at her side, and placed my hand on her belly. I could feel it rising and sinking with each breath she took, though the rest of her body was motionless. Bailey looked to be holding back tears, though it was quite obvious that she was stricken by the previous battles events.
"Don't worry. Sh-She'll be fine." I said, trying to hold back tears of my own.
I then felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned, and saw Sir Ivan standing behind me.
"We must prepare, my Queen. A storm is coming." He said.
