I scrambled to ready myself to take to the skies once again, waiting for Bailey and Magar to return from her short journey, intent on spreading word of our decision to our followers. Doron had woken now, and he seemed to sense the sudden shift in attitude between us all. Ragon and Veracon both seemed abnormally restless, which was strange considering their usual behaviour, which was typically much more passive and relaxed.
"There's Magar!" Amy shouted as Magar approached us from above.
The four of us gathered together as Magar landed before us, with Bailey making her way down to us, nearly losing her footing.
"It's done. We're ready to go." She said, slightly out of breath from her clumsy dismount.
I nodded.
"Excellent. We must be off then." I said.
"I agree. Give our warriors a short while to mobilise and determine who will remain here, and who will accompany us." Tahli added.
For a moment, there was a pause as Bailey glanced up at Magar. I could tell that the two of them were communicating, regardless of the lack of vocalisation. I examined the two of them for a moment, trying to make sense of whatever was being transferred between them, but to no avail. After another moment yet, Magar turned her head and glanced down at May, who was resting beside her, drinking from the fast flowing river that jutted out into four stunning water falls.
"What's going on?" Amy asked in a whisper, confused at the sudden, intense silence that suddenly fell over us all.
"I don't know. Just wait." I replied in an equal whisper.
Just as I finished speaking, Doron, Veracon and Ragon turned their attention towards us, the three of them coming to surround Magar and May as the all looked down on us. I could then tell almost certainly that some kind of unseen and unheard message being passed between the five of them. The other dragons sitting off behind us also seemed to take notice of what ever was going on, though they remained in place, and did not come to join us.
"Okay... This is getting a bit strange." Amy said in a slightly concerned and confused voice.
The silence went on for another moment, before Magar broke the silence with a quiet click, directed at May. May seemed reluctant at first to obey what ever order her mother had issued, but after a moment, the young dragon turned her head and locked her eyes on me, before she slowly approached me.
"What's she doing?" Noah asked softly.
"I don't know. Just let her approach." I replied equally as soft.
May slowly came up to me, holding her head high above mine as she came to a slowly stop, looking down at me with her gleaming eyes locked on mine. I could sense the curiosity running through her thin scales as the four bigger dragons observed the encounter from much further back, none of them making a sound.
"Hello May. Everything alright?" I asked as I reached upwards and stroked the underside of her throat.
She slowly lowered her head down below mine, and very lightly pressed up against my belly. Her scales were warm, and surprisingly dull compared to those of her much larger relatives. Her bright red scales with brilliant white stripes shinned with the suns light reflecting off of them as she nuzzled my belly repeatedly, before backing away from me, and turning her attention to Noah. The young dragon slowly began to creep forward as Magar prompted her verbally from behind us all.
"Wh-What does she want?" Noah said nervously.
I pondered for a moment, before looking to him, and smiling.
"Without a rider, a dragon may fly blind. With a rider, a dragon will conquer the sky."
