Lily's POV

What's going on?
Was all I could think. Who was this girl? Was she like some sort of guardian angel sent from the heavens or something?

"What floor?" She asked me kindly. I was still too much in shock.
What's she going to do? Turn on me now? Did she just want me to herself to torture?

I guess the bluenette could read my expression because she stepped a little farther away and giggled,
"Floor 8 it is. You probably want to go to your room. Or you can come to mine and hang out. I'm not like them I swear. I'm Marinette by the way. Dupain-Cheng." She stuck out her hand to me, she had pink nail polish on.

I blinked a few times before shaking her hand, feeling like I could trust her. She did just save me, after all.

"L-Lily. " I stuttered out. Marinette nodded and sighed, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

"I can't believe I just did that." She laughed airily, "Chloe and Lila are gonna kill me later."
"What do you mean?" I wondered, curiosity taking over me.

"I mean, they'll come after me tomorrow since I helped you. Like usual, probably worse. They bully me too. A lot. The blonde one was Chloe, the brunette was Lila, and the red head was Sabrina. They've been bullying me ever since we met, which was like preschool, Chloe and Sabrina, I mean." She laughed humorlessly.

"If you stay with my friends and me they won't bother you. Well, at least we'll try. That is if you want to be my friend, I-I get it if you don't want to be." Marinette laughed nervously again.

I was confused to say the least. Her whole personality seems to flip, and she got all self conscious over whether or not I'd want to be her friend. Obviously I would.

What kind of question was that? I have never been self conscious, just self aware I suppose. Bullies scare me most of the time, since I never know what they're capable of, so I try to keep to myself, and stay low key.

Everywhere I've gone I've been bullied because I'm trans, but I've never once questioned it. My transition has been complete for a while now, and all my surgeries went smoothly, and I'm very grateful for that.

Though I wonder how that Chloe girl even knew. I stayed optimistic mostly with the help of my best friend, Devin. She was my rock, always pulling me back to the ground.

"I'd love to, Marinette! And, um, could I take you up on that hang out offer?" I added, smiling at the seemingly self conscious girl.

"Course! I'm going to go to dinner with my friends at 7:30." Marinette explained, walking out of the elevator as it dinged and motioning for me to follow. "Wanna come? We're just going to the cafeteria."

"That would be great." I agreed, following her into her room. It was huge, to say the least. Master suite. Way nicer than mine.

It made me wonder, is Marinette one of those rich girls? One of the ones that don't even think they have it good? Those are some of the worst. Behind the ones that are bratty and abuse their power.

"I need to take a quick shower, get comfortable, and turn in the TV if you'd like."

Marinette's POV

I hopped into the steaming shower. Though I'd have to cut it short since it was already 7:15. I really hope Lily likes me, and I didn't completely mess it up somehow.

Worthless.

Untalented.

No one likes you.

I shook my head.
Stop thinking about that.
I scolded myself, allowing the hot water to fall down my body and take my makeup off with it.
