Jane had finally managed to stop herself from crying, wordlessly walking around the neighborhood as the numb feeling took over her entire body. She walked around for what seemed like hours, back to the party where everyone had left to go home. It was late, but she couldn't sleep because every single time she closed her eyes, she saw Mike. She didn't see his red flustered cheeks or his millions of freckles that made her heart bloom with flowers. She could only see his eyes closed, his lips pressed up against someone else's. 

The image would haunt her forever, that was something that she was certain of. What hurt the most was that she thought that Mike felt the same way, she really hoped somewhere in her heart that he wouldn't be able to be happy without her. As selfish as it was, she wished that she was the only one who owned his heart. 

Walking around for hours, she found herself always coming back to the same place. His parent's cars were not there again, but just to be careful, she climbed up the familiar drain pipe that led to his bedroom. Mike was settling down for bed when he heard his window slide open, a cold expression coming across his face. Jane stood tall in his room, her body shaking with anger and betrayal so strong that his glare almost didn't hurt. 

"What are you doing here again?" his voice was harsh. "It's late and I told you that I needed some time alone, just go."

Jane shook her head strongly. "No, I'm not going."

"Jane-"

She squeezed her eyes shut. "Stop calling me that, you told me that you would call me El. You told me that it was a special nickname between us, and I liked it."

He scoffed. "I want you to leave. I don't have the energy to listen to your apologies all night again, I don't want to hear it."

She glared at him. "I'm not here to apologize."

Mike was taken aback, losing his confidence. He was sure of himself pushing her away and knowing exactly what to say so that maybe he could hurt her as much as she had hurt him. He knew that it was cruel and not something that he would usually do, but he didn't know what else to do. If he didn't glare and yell hurtful words at her, he knew that he would immediately be back in her arms for her to lie to him again. 

He crossed his arms over his chest. "So what-"

"You are acting like you're the only one with feelings here. I know that I broke your heart, but don't think that it didn't break my heart too. You are being cruel and this isn't you, yell at me all you want but it won't make it hurt any less. Believe me, I know. You broke my heart just as much when you left me standing there."

"So I'm supposed to apologize?" Mike snapped. 

"You l-lied to me" Jane's voice started to crack. "You said that you wouldn't leave me."

"You lied to me about everything!" he yelled. 

Jane forced back the tears forming in her caramel eyes and glared at the boy that she used to know. She knew exactly what he was doing, he was pushing her away so that it wouldn't hurt as much. She may have deserved it, but it hurt like hell. 

She pointed a finger in his face. "I didn't lie about everything, that is bullshit. I didn't lie to you once about my feelings after we kissed. I meant every single thing that I said and I didn't lie when I told you that I loved you twice! And what did you do? You walked away because you couldn't handle being hurt."
