TIN POV
I didn't have Can's number or line so I had to message Pete to get it. When I did I immediately called Can and asked him to meet me at my apartment. I felt bad for making him come back but he did anyway. I change my outfit and waited for him to arrive.
"Did I forget something?" Was the first thing Can asked when I opened the door. I laughed and shook my head.
"No. I just wanted to invite you out for breakfast." I explained. When I mentioned breakfast Can's eyes lit up.
"Food? A man after my own heart." Can said smiling wide. I smiled at him. Maybe.
"Let's go." I said stepping out of my apartment.
"Okay, but I wanna treat you." Can said smiling wide. I shook my head.
"Nope. I'll treat you." I said before walking away quickly so he couldn't protest.
I drove us to a small cafe that I had only ever taken Pete to. It was my favorite cafe. My mom and I used to come here when I was little. It was something we had since stopped doing together, but I still did it by myself or with Pete. Now, I was taking Can.
I was a small cafe run by a couple in their late thirties. They had traveled around, almost, the entire world, and had different types of cuisine. I especially liked their American style pancakes.
"I love this place." Can said perking up once he saw the building. I looked over at him after parking the car.
"You've been here before?" I asked. He nodded happily.
"Are you kidding me? It's like the best place in town. Their food is to die for." Can said unbuckling himself and jumping out of the car. I laughed and followed him.
He liked it here too? I had never seen him before when I was here. Maybe it was just coincidence that we weren't ever here at the same time. I found myself liking Can even more. Can grabbed my hand and dragged me inside.
"Mr. Can." The lady at the register said smiling wide. "Oh!" She said once she seen me. "Mr. Tin. I didn't know you two knew each other." She said. She looked down at our hands and smiled wide. "Are you two dating?" Can blushed and let go of my hand.
"What? You're crazy P'Minnie! You know food is the only thing in my life right now. No boys." He said shaking his head. So he liked boys? Why did that make me feel weird? Maybe I was just really hungry.
"Mhm. Okay, well you two go have a seat. I'll bring over your usual, Tin. What would you like today, Can?" She asked. Can smiled.
"Whatever the special is." He said before pulling me to the back of the seating area, where no one could really see us.
He must come here often. He knows the register lady. I didn't. I guess maybe part of the reason was because I didn't care enough to. Did that make me a rich snob?
Can sat down across from me and begun playing on his phone. I had a good chance to really look at him.
He was thin, which as surprising because he apparently loved food so much. His skin was amazing and pale white. It looked as though he was sick, but it glowed like the sun, reassuring me that he wasn't. His hair was a raven black and laid wherever it felt like. He was smiling down at whatever he was doing. He smile looked like it could light but the whole world.
"Can I trust you?" I asked out loud. He looked up at me confused.
"Of course you can." He said as if it was obvious. I smiled and him and looked down. Even though I didn't mean to speak it out loud I'm glad I did. Him saying it was just reassuring me.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to say that out loud." I said. Can smiled and shook his head.
"Can I trust you?" He asked trying to be serious. I laughed and nodded.
"You can." I answered, nodding. He smiled and nodded back at me. Out food arrived then.
We spent the next however long we were there just eating and talking about things. He talked mostly about food which, for some reason, didn't surprise me. He was easy to get along with. I don't think I've ever smiled so much in my life. He was nice. I think Pete was right.
"I should probably get going." Can said standing up and grabbing his jacket off the back f the chair. "I have practice soon." I stood up quickly.
"Let me drive you." Again with the quick decisions. He smiled and nodded.
"Sure, let's go." He said leading the way out of the cafe.
It felt weird to be hanging out with him, but it also felt nice. I could tell him stories he had never heard before, instead of having nothing to talk to about with Pete.
I dropped him off at the field and spotted Pete sitting in the bleachers. I walked over and sat with him. He smiled up at me and raised an eyebrow.
"What a coincidence. Can arrives at the same time you do." He said shaking his head and looking back down at the field.
"I drove him." I said not looking at Pete. Pete looked at me and laughed.
"You guys were together again?" I nodded.
"I invited him out for breakfast." I admitted. Pete clapped my back.
"Like a date?" He asked. I scoffed and looked at him finally.
"As if. I'm just taking your advice. I'm trying to be friends with him." I said looking back at the field, at Can.
"Well, whatever it is, I'm glad for you. He'll will be a change for you." Pete said sighing and looking back at the field as well. I nodded my head.
"I'm beggining to realize that." I admitted.
I don't like Can. We're friends, well the beginning of friends. That's all we'll ever be. That's all I'll ever let us be. I can't be in a relationship. I'm damaged. It's not good for anyone.
