CAN POV
I knew that he could feel my heartbeat, and if he didn't then I was surprised. Being this close to him made my heart beat and breath hitch. Why did I put myself into this position if I knew what I was getting into? I was just trying to be nice. He seemed to learn a few things from it too. But, I had to remind myself that we were just friends.
"Are you sure you didn't know how to do this before?" I asked. He laughed and shook his head. I could feel his breath on my face making me go red.
"I'm sure." He said. The song had ended a long time ago and now a non-slow song was playing. "Thanks for teaching me." He said shyly.
"You're welcome." I said smiling at him.
"Tin! Where is the b-" Pete walked out of the house but lost his voice as he saw us. We both pulled apart quickly like we were embarrassed or something.
"What?" Tin asked as I walked over to turn off the music.
"Just wondered where the rest of the boxes were." He said. He eyes me suspiciously when I came back over.
"Yeah sorry. Can and I got kind of distracted. We'll bring the boxes in now." He said. Pete shook his head.
"It's late. Ae and I can take care of the rest. You take Can home." He said. Tin looked over at me too, I'm guessing, ask if it was okay. I shrugged. He turned back to Pete and nodded his head.
"Okay. Tell your mom that I said bye." Tin said before we gathered our things and headed out to his car.
"I had fun tonight." I said once we were in the car. He smiled at me and nodded.
"I did too." He said. I blushed and looked down.
"You're also a pretty good dancer." I complimented him. It was his turn to blush and look away.
"Thanks."
We were quiet for the rest of the ride. I didn't know what to say. I was afriad that I would end up having word vomit. We had already been so close before and now that was all I could think about.
"Are you hungry?" I asked. Tin was silent for a few moments, probably thinking.
"Yeah. Are you?" He asked in return. I nodded frantically. He laughed and nodded. "Want to get something to eat?" He asked. I stopped myself before I nodded my head.
"Why don't you just come to my house and I can make you pancakes." I offered. Tin smiled and nodded.
"That would be great." He said. I nodded and smiled.
We arrived at my house not long after that. Tin parked his car and we got out together. I informed him to not be loud so he didn't wake anyone. He took a seat in a chair in the kitchen and watched me as I began preparing to make the pancakes.
"Where did you learn to cook?" Tin asked. I smiled, thinking back to when I was young.
"My mom taught me. She used to be a chef at this restaurant. She loves to cook. She loves foreign food. I love food period so I fell in love with it. I've always wanted to go to France and be a chef." I explained. He nodded and listened to me like he was really interested.
"From the breakfast, I had this morning, I can tell that you're pretty great. Maybe I should make you be my personal chef." He said joking. I know it was a joke but it still made me shy.
"Why do you like American food so much?" I asked. He was silent and I could tell that the tension rose in the air. Maybe it wasn't the best question to ask.
"I lived there for a few years." He answered. I could tell by the sound of his voice that he was thinking deeply about something. I didn't want to make him uncomfortable and changed the subject.
"Well, Paris is where I'm wanting to go after graduation. I wanna be a chef and maybe be famous. Not for the money or fame, just to show that I can." I said turning around and looking at Tin. He was smiling at me. My ears started to heat up. "What?" I asked. He shook his head and looked down for a few seconds before looking back up at me.
"Nothing. You're just different. Most people want money, but, you, you just wanna show people that you're amazing." His answer made my breath hitch. I turned back around and smiled wide. It was gonna be hard to be just friends with him. "I think it's great. Money isn't everything." He said again in the voice that made him sound like he was thinking deeply about something. I put two pancakes on a plate for him and set it on the table in front of him and sat at the end of the table, next to him.
"I agree. Money isn't everything. Sure, you can get a lot of things with money, but it doesn't buy happiness or love." I said. I knew he came from lots of money, but he was humble. He was nice and knew that money wasn't everything. I liked him because of that, not his money.
"These are good." He said changing the subject and taking a bit of a pancake. I smiled and nodded.
"Is it hot in here?" I asked standing up and going to stand next to the window, opening it. I had drunk maybe a little too much wine at the party. Maybe that was why I was making these rash decisions with him.
"A little." I heard Tin get up and heard him walk. His steps getting closer until he was standing at the, small, window next to me. I looked at him from the corner of my eye. He was close again. It made my heart race.
I knew at that moment that I wasn't going to get over these feelings for him. I couldn't.
"It's late." I commented. It wasn't so he would get the hint to go home. I was hoping he would ask to stay. Not in my bed, but he could sleep on the couch.
"It is. I should go soon." He said. I nodded.
"You could stay." I suggested to him. He looked down at me. He had no facial expressions. "It's late and I know you are probably tired. You can sleep on the couch if you want."
"I'm too tall for your couch." He said in a whisper.
"Then you can sleep in my bed." I said just as quietly. Why did I have to betray myself? He was probably scared of me now. He was probably going to run away from me and hate me. He was going t-
"Okay." I looked him in the eye and couldn't tell what he was thinking. I lifted my hand to his neck and pulled him down. I connected our lips together slowly. I didn't move them for fear that he would pull away. He could either way. But instead, he grabbed my waist and kissed me back. "Can." I heard his voice call.
I was pulled back into reality by him shaking my arm.
"What?" I asked. He smiled and me and shook his head.
"I said okay."
Shit. I just imagined that.
Now, I'm hungry.
