"Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you..." I watched my family and friends sing to me with smiles on their faces.

We were all outside in the backyard. I was seated around the table outside. I didn't know dad and my aunts had planned a party for me and they invited all my friends.

"Make a wish," casie said after they were finished singing.

I smiled.

I wish the good moments would never end.

I blow out the number seventeen candle then they cheered.

"Time to cut the cake," Dad said and everyone started agreeing.

"Who's gonna cut it with you?" Eva my cousin asked.

"Casie," I called casie over to me. They were taking pictures.

"Yea?" She approached me.

"Freeze," I heard dad as casie reached next to me. We froze.

"Smile," he said then we smiled and the camera flashed.

"Here you go," he then handed me the knife.

They got me a big black forest cake with lots of cherries on top. I love black forest cake.

"Ready?" My aunt Megan approached us.

"Everyone, it's the cutting of the cake," dad said and everyone that had moved, gathered together with the others around us at the table.

"Oh, you want me to cut the cake with you?" She asked.

"Yea," I answered then she smiled.

They took their phones videoing then we cut the cake. Everyone cheered. I was so happy, the feeling was unexplainable.

"Where's Brad?" Tray asked after Aunt Veronica began  sharing the cake.

"I don't know, I haven't heard from him?" I answered. That was sad part about my day. Brad was no where to be found.

"Me neither," Malcom said then I sighed.

"He'll be here," casie rubbed my shoulders with a smile. I forced a smile. He'll be here... hopefully.

Dad started some music and people started dancing, conversing, playing games, swimming in the pool and eating food that was prepared.

I constantly checked my phone every now and now, thinking he would call.

"Birthday girl, come on in!" I heard a shout. When I looked to the pool I saw casie and Carla waving me over.

I shook my head. Brad's not here yet. They went back to what they were doing and I went back to constantly checking my phone.
...

The time flew by and I started having less fun. Brad didn't show up. Something must be wrong.

It was now time for the gifts. My friends and I were all in the living room.

"Open mine first," Eva handed me hers. It was a little box.

I smiled and started unwrapping them. Everyone watched. I pulled the wrapping off completely then I opened the little box.

"Gold nobs, nice," I said and Eva smiled. "Thank you Eva," I added.

"You're welcome," she spoke with her wide smile which caused me to smile.

"My turn," Casie came and sat beside me in the couch. She handed me a rectangular box and I smiled and shook it.

"Sweets?" I asked and some of them laughed. She smiled.
