I will fix the grammar in about the 10th chapter or the last chapter of the book 'cause I can't be an author and an editor at the same time :)  Oh, and thank you so much for believing in me and this work, 'The Broken'. I wish you the best in life!]

Chapter 7

~Khaleeshia's P.O.V.~

I cracked open the door before actually opening it fully. “Khaleeshia, is that you?” it was Cherry. Without further ado, I open the door fully. “Hey Princ—“ she stops herself as her eyes lay on Jimmy. Her eyes scroll down to his leg. “Oh my, who is this? What happened to you?” she rushes over to Jimmy looking anxious. “Are you all right?” Jimmy nods gratefully with a tight smile on his face. Cherry’s attention drifts to me, “What happened to him Khaleeshia? Is he your friend?”

Before I could answer any of her dart questions, Jimmy speaks up almost immediately. “Good evening, Mrs. Wilson. My name is Jimmy Chase Letterman. I’m Khalesshia’s classmate and friend.” At the last word he looked to me with query. For a split second I could see his regret.

Cherry’s eyes grow wide. “Really now? Well I'll call my husband." at that very moment Jimmy froze in his place. "Jim come over here!”

Jim comes into the room with an exasperated expression on. “Princess do you—“ his voice started stern but died down as his eyes meet Jimmy’s. “Who is this?” he asked, a sudden expression of confusion and curiosity overtakes him.

He stretches out a hand. “Good evening, Sir, I’m Jimmy Chase Letterman.” His face was literally glowing with excitement and joy. I wonder how it feels like to feel genuinely happy without fear or doubt. What would it take for me to smile just like Jimmy? “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Khaleeshia’s classmate.” He said looking a bit nervous now.

“And her friend.” Cherry added excitedly.

Jim looks to me with a surprise and proud look on his face. It was the face of victory and pride, the face he made when he’d see his finished works. “Is that so?” he asked with hopefulness in his eyes and a little doubt in his tone.

Cherry nods exuberantly. I clear my throat taking their attention. “Is it all right if Jimmy—”

“Oh Khaleeshia, maybe you should call me Chase.” Interrupted the guest. “That way, we could avoid some confusion with the names.” He explain.

I nod. “All right. Well, can Chase have supper with us?” I asked.

Jim and Cherry nod almost at the same speed and time. “Of course he can." said Jim. "But what happened to your foot?” Chase told them everything that happened except for the part of me playing and getting wet by the sore loser, Xzavier. I guess it was up to me to tell them about it or not. When he was telling the story though, he paused for a while sending me looks of question. I didn't understand any of them so I shut my mouth.

During dinner, Chase couldn’t stop talking. He was bringing more life into the room than usual. He first started slow by saying a bit about himself; brief information like who his parents were and his sports. Apparently, his parents were both dead and he’s living with his brother. My heart ached for him. It must be difficult to loose both parents at fourteen. I'm sure they loved him both and he shared the mutual feeling with them.
