Chapter 19
Amy’s P.O.V.
I hook my arm on Khaleeshia’s dangling, lanky arm and look at her with probably a stupid grin on my face. “So I was thinking, are you free for the weekend?” maybe this part is the ‘getting to know you’ part of the weekend!
Khaleeshia shakes her head. “I don’t think so. Cherry laid out some plans for the weekend. But I don’t want to go to any of them.” Why does she call her mum by her first name? That’s just odd. Presuming of course, Cherry is her mother.
I nod. “I understand. Its all right. Where are you going for the weekend?” I asked.
She shrugs. “Camping out this Saturday night.” WHAT!
Camping out! “Are you going to stay there for one night only or more?” I jump in my place as my guts twist in excitement for her. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!
Khaleeshia shrugs. “I don’t know.” She said simply.
“I love camp outs!” I said suddenly. “You are so lucky that you get to go camp out on Saturday while I’m stuck at home alone.”
“Why don’t you watch your sister?” she suggested.
I wave it off. “Ameerah’s fiancée is doing that.” Leo is really sweet and all but there’s just something about him that ticks off. Maybe its just me being protective but I can’t help but think there’s really something odd about him. I never really got to know him that well so I guess I shouldn’t judge. My cell vibrates in my pocket catching my attention. Who’d be calling now? I take my cell. “Hello?”
Sobs emerge from the other line shooting me shivers that run up my spine. “A—Amy.” Ameerah? “C-Come t-to the hos-pital plea-please.” Oh no she can’t be crying now! She just got off from a hold up. “N-now.” Now? I don’t have a ride.
“What’s going on Ameerah?” I honestly didn’t want to know anymore.
She breaks down into more hard sobs making me want to cry with her. “Leo left.” My mind shuts down. Everything seems to go pitch black. He left my sister? “He left me.” He promised her he’d never leaver her like how Gin left Rab and like how dad left us. “Please Amy, come now. I need to tell you something important.” I nod and shut the phone. Oh shoot, she couldn’t see me nod! Stupid Amy!
“What’s wrong?” Khaleeshia asked looking, again, concerned.
I would put my ‘Aw you’re so sweet’ face on but now’s not the right time. “My sister needs me in the hospital but I need a ride.” Where the hell can I get a ride? I look down to see my fingers trembling like crazy! Don’t panic, don’t pan—
“Who needs a ride?” we spin around and see Jimmy. My heart stops. Oh. My. Gosh. Jimmy Chase Letterman is talking to us! He’s so freakin’ hot! Khaleeshia nudges me waking me up from my staring session. Oh my gosh, did I just gawk at him? “I—I do.” Great, stuttering! I can’t do this alone. Jimmy and I alone in the car? I might just make a fool of myself even before we reach the hospital. I turn to Khaleeshia, “Can you come?” Please say yes!
She nods quickly without even thinking about it twice. Jimmy leads us out to his car and then it hit me. He’s got a freakin’ crutch! Can he even drive? “Jimmy,” Khaleeshia called out. He turns around looking at both of us with the cutest smile ever. “can you drive with your ankle like that?” she asked.
Jimmy’s smile widens as he nods. “I drove to school myself today so yes, I can drive.” How, I don’t know and I don’t care. As long I get to that hospital its all right.
