Joe

I looked towards where amber was pointing, I saw the faint outline of a girl. As the figure got closer I saw who it was, amber started to breath heavier. I pulled her closer to me so her head was resting on my shoulder,
J"Hey, hey, hey amber she's not going to do anything. I won't let her. Trust me ok"
I felt her nod her head into my shoulder. The girl came over to me and stood in front of me.
T"Hey joe, I see you ditched the clowns. Have you finally listened to me"
J"Tami, get lost. There not clowns there my friends"
T"Well there all a bunch of idiots and the biggest is that low life excuse of a girlfriend you have"
J"Tami, I thought my sister warned you. One more word and your done"
T"Who's this"
I felt amber snuggle closer to me, hiding her face in my shoulder so that Tami couldn't see it was her.
J"My baby cousin, not that it's any of your business"
T"Can I see"
J"She's sleeping, and even if she wasn't the answer would still be no"
T"Joe, you know you love me"
J"Nope, in fact I know I dislike you"
T"Ahh Joe just you wait you will..."
J"Tami, don't even finish that sentence just get out of my way"
T"Why should I"
J"Because I need to get my cousin home and to bed, she's literally asleep right now"
I walked past Tami and started to walk back to diannes house until I noticed Tami following me. I took out my phone and called Zoe.
Z"Hey Joseph what's up"
J"I need you to come and pick up me and amb"
Z"Sure thing where from"
J"The park round the corner from the bowling alley"
Z"Ok I'll be there in 5 minutes"
J"Perfect thank you"
As I hung up the phone I whispered to amber
J"Hold on little one, I'm gunna run to the park"
I sprinted as fast as I could with amber still cuddled into me. She laughed the whole time but she never once lifted her face out of my shoulder. As soon as we got there zoes car pulled up outside it.
Z"How come you needed me to pick you up"
J"Can I explain on the drive back to diannes"
Z"Sure get in"
I strapped amber into the car and sat next to her. She buried her face into my chest and cuddled up to me. I guessed she was still pretty shaken up, I don't blame her.
Z"So Joe, you gunna tell me"
J"As we was walking back to diannes, Tami turned up, luckily she didn't see that it was amber and I told her that it was justmy baby cousin and that she was asleep. When I finally managed to get away I saw that she was following me, I didn't really want her to know where dianne lives so I called you and then ran here"
Z"You guys ok"
J"I'm fine, but I think ambers a bit shaken up"
I them remembered the presents I picked her up earlier. I grabbed the bag that I had placed on the floor on the car when we got in the car, I pulled out the Eric teddy and the blanket. I covered her with the blanket and gave her the teddy to hold.
J"Amber look at me"
She tilted her head up
J"Do you trust me"
She nodded her head
J"Then you know that when I tell you that your safe your safe, I'm not going to let anyone hurt you ok"
Am"Ok"
J"I promise you amber"
I kissed her forehead and she snuggled back into my chest hugging her eric teddy very tightly.
Z"We are here, you guys gunna be ok"
J"Yeah, do you want to come in for a bit to say hi to dianne"
Z"That would be nice"
We all got out of the car and I picked up amber, she tightened her grip on me as she held eric in one hand. I covered the blanket over her and grabbed the bag which still had the pillow in it. I carried her to the door which Zoe had already knocked on. Dianne answered the door and pulled Zoe into a hug.
I carried amber through to her room and placed her on the rocking chair in the corner of her room. I then took the pillow out of the bag and put it on her bed. She just sat there not moving, I walked over to her and picked her up and placed her gently on her bed.
J"Look at me amber"
She turned her head to face me
J"These little things I got you today are to help you sleep when I'm not here. So if you wake up during the night and you have had a nightmare and you can't move to go and get dianne, hug eric and snuggle into the pillow and blanket. Think happy thoughts, like when mark and Rina fostered you, or when we was in the Disney store and the cafe. Focus on happy things and the bad thoughts should get blocked out. We have about an hour before we have to go to see Mr burns, try and get some sleep ok"
Am"Ok"
I read her a story, when I knew she was asleep I walked out of her room and into the living room where, dianne, Zoe and Austin were.
J"Hey di, where's your dad gone"
D"He has to work for a few hours"
J"Oh ok"
D"Joe, Zoe told me what happened, are you ok"
J"Ambers just a bit shaken up that's all, she's having a nap at the moment"
D"Joe, are YOU ok"
J"I guess, I don't know. It just hurts to here her say such bad things about everyone I care about."
Z"Joseph what did she say"
J"She asked me whether I have ditched the clowns and then she... " I started to tear up "she called dianne a low life excuse of a girlfriend" By this point I'm literally just balling my eyes out. "How could she say such horrible things about you guys, and dianne is literally the best girlfriend in the whole world, it kills me to here her talk about you so badly."
D"Joe she's just jealous of dianne, I've had enough of her anyway. On Monday I'm reporting her to the school"
I pulled Zoe into a massive hug, i let out a deep breath as if this huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders.
J"Oh reddo I nearly forgot"
I pulled out the cupcake that was wrapped up neatly from my pocket and handed it to her.
J"It's red velvet like your hair"
Dianne smiled at me and gave me a cuddle.
D"Thank you suggy"

The next chapter is going to be amber in the therapists office talking to him about what happened, thought I would pre-warn ya.
