"Have you ever been to a party?" He asked, his hands clenching into steering wheel.

"Yeah, a few times." I lied, playing with my nails.

We parked outside of the beach and I waited for him to pay for parking before we walked over to the sand. It was night time and there were a few students from school I could recognize standing around a bon fire, all holding red plastic cups and talking amongst each other.

I felt nervous, and the stares sent to Alexander and I were not helping. We were coming to the party together, just as friends, but still together. People were staring like we were an odd couple, or something they would have never expected.

Walking through loud music and drunk teenagers, we ended up at the bon fire and Alexander placed the beers down.

He greeted a few people, and they looked surprised to have him with me. Some of his friends gave him mischievous smirks but I ignored them and lightly hummed to the music.

"Here." Alex said, pouring liquids into a red cup.

I looked at the pink drink hesitatingly before taking a sip. It tasted like cherry with a mix of alcohol and I found myself smiling before taking another sip.

He chuckled and looked down at me gulp the drink. "It's good right?"

I giggled while nodding and finished the drink and then poured myself another. I already felt myself being dizzy. I had only drank a few times, and those times were enough to let me know I was a light-weight. But tonight I didn't care, I wanted to be a normal teenager just for one night.

"Slow down, now." He warned, taking the cup from my hands.

I pouted and was ready to yell at him before I felt someone tap my shoulder.

I turned to see Elena beside her boyfriend, Justin. They were wearing matching bathing suits, and they looked so cute together.

"Hi." She squealed, pulling me into a hug.

We talked for a bit while Alexander and Justin spoke to each other about basketball.

I heard a few people call Alex's name and looked back at the same time as him.

A few of the guys from the basketball team were at another fire standing around it. I spotted Angela amongst them, who was also staring at us very meanly. She wore pretty much the same outfit as I: Jean shorts and a white top, but with her bright pink bikini showing through.

He began to walk towards them, and I followed him because I was here with him. When he turned around with his hands on my shoulders I knew what was coming. He was going to reject me out of embarrassment again.

"You good here?" He asked, looking back at Elena and Justin. I nodded shyly and forced a smile

I stayed with Elena and Justin, but kept my eyes on Alexander who was jogging towards the other most popular people from school and felt my eyes start to sting. How could I even think for a second him and I were here at this party together? Was I really this dense? Why did he hate me so much?

I downed another drink.

The rest of the party was absolutely awful. Justin and Elena were nice and all, but I could tell they only stayed with me because I had nobody else. Home was not too far from the party, but I stayed out of fear of people judging me even more. Two drinks turned to five, and by that point I was an easy date. I was so incredibly drunk that I didn't even care about how much Alexander hurt me, I didn't even feel the emotions anymore.
