SKY
Two months later. . .
The beginning of college was just one week away.
I spent the entire summer working full time, which helped me tremendously to try to get over Alexander.
It was difficult though, as I sometimes walked by his home on the way home from work.
I quit the job at the cafe where Tyler worked, as I could no longer be around him. Word of the mouth was that he also got accepted to Princeton, and decided to go there instead, so I didn't have to worry about him being with me in Seattle.
Two months ago, I came across Caroline and she told me one of her friends was in urgent need of a baby sitter, so I worked as a babysitter for their two children. The family I worked for were quite rich, so they paid me well. I was able to save up enough to pay my rent for the entire year, and family were to help me with the other expenses.
I was leaving for Seattle tomorrow morning, so there was nothing better to do than hang out with Elena for my last day. She had been such a great help to me the past couple of months with the breakup. Even though Justin and Alexander frequently hung out together, she never talked to me about him or what he was up to. I appreciated it.
We decided to go shopping at the mall and get some boba tea.
"So how have things been going in your new place?" I asked her.
Her and Justin had moved in together in a new apartment and would be going to the same school here in Santa Barbara.
"Girl. . . You know I love me some Justin Hernandez." She beamed. "He finally let me decorate our room pink."
There was nothing Justin wouldn't do to make Elena happy. Although she came from a rich family, and his family made significantly less, he always worked hard to make her happy.
"Good." I giggled, sipping my tea.
"How about you? Is your place ready for move in?"
"Yup! My mom and I went there last week and she helped me get everything sorted." I told her.
I had also spent that week getting to know Seattle. My new school, the public transportation system, the area. Seattle was just amazing.
Elena and I finished our boba and started making our way to my house to hang out there for a few.
I opened the door of my house, and the last thing I thought that was going to happen hit me like a ton of bricks.
"SURPRISE!"
I clutched Elena so hard but I was too late, I fell back hard onto my behind.
Elena helped me up and I took in the surroundings. There was food, a big sign with my name on it and my entire family. I even saw Caroline and Layla, so my heart began to beat quickly, thinking that he might be here.
My eyes scanned around the room to see if the person I didn't know I wanted to see or not, was here. Silence overtook the room while I looked, as they were probably expecting me to jump up in excitement.
Suddenly, the familiar eyes of my father caught my eye and I forgot about everything but just focused on how much I had missed him.
"Dad!" I screamed, dropping my purse on the floor and running to hug him.
"Hey there, bug." My dad squeezed me as hard as I was squeezing him.
"I can't believe you're here!"
"What you mean? Of course I would come." He chuckled, pulling back to look at me. "God, you seem all grown up now."
"So where's that white boy you're dating?" He asked me. "Alex, was it?"
