Evan's POV

"Evan!" Heidi called from
downstairs. "Come down!"

Evan didn't feel like moving. He didn't feel like doing anything.

"Wanna go to the park? I heard they just opened a new one next to Glorybringer street!" His mother tried again. "And the swings are awesome!"

Evan quickly bolted up from his bed. He absolutely loved the swings. He ran down the stairs and into the kitchen, where Heidi was making a sandwich.

She laughed as Evan jumped around excitedly. "You can't go to the park in your pajamas!" She said and pointed to the light blue oversized shirt and pants Evan was wearing.

He laughed and dashed upstairs, quickly throwing on a blue striped polo shirt and khakis. "Now come on, let's go," Heidi said, poking her head through Evan's room.

They rolled into the car. Evan was actually excited after.....his father left a week ago. They passed a big U-haul truck and Evan started crying.

Heidi noticed this and quickly asked, "What's wrong, honey?"

Evan pointed to the truck beside their car. "It-it lo-looks li-like the o-one th-that took dada aw-away!" He cried.

Heidi held Evan's hand as they stopped at a red light. "Don't worry. We're going to the park to have fun, okay? And there isn't going to be a truck to take momma away, like I said before." She insisted sternly yet caring.

Evan nodded and decided to look at the amazing tall trees in the distant. He always loved trees. They were just so fascinating. How they grew in such weird ways. How they started growing in the world. How tall the average is. How short the average is. What they looked like. All that.

They soon arrived at the park and Evan looked in amazement at the sight in front of him. It looked so fun!

Heidi yawned behind him as Evan jumped out of the car. He turned around and smiled. "Momma can stay in the car!" He said.

Heidi smiled and Evan dashed to the swings. He noticed that a few boys, about a year or two older than him, walking towards the swings as well.

He ignored the thought and happily swung himself back and forth. That is until one of he kids earlier push him off.

Evan fell face first into the floor. He quickly sat up and touched his nose. It was bleeding.

Oh no oh no oh no what do I do??!! My nose is bleeding of my fern holy mother of bushes, WHAT DO I DO??!!

Evan turned his head around when he heard the snickering behind him. "Oh I'm so sorry! But my hand must've slipped! Oh wait, no, you were just stupid!" Ons of them commented.

Evan felt tears in his eyes. Half because of the pain, and half because of what the boy said.

"Don't you know it's rude to go on the swings when someone was clearly going to go on it?! Right, Andy?" Another one said to the first boy.

Andy nodded and kicked Evan when he stood up. He fell back down, and this time scraped his knee.

Crap, my knee is bleeding too now.

Evan felt a tear roll down. "Awww, why don't you go back and cry to your mommy, loser?" The second boy teased.

Was it too much to asked to just be happy again?

Connor's POV

"Weee!!" Zoe screamed. Connor was playing with her on the seesaw.

Despite Zoe's screeching, Connor still heard....crying?

He turned his head around and saw a boy getting kicked down by another one kid that seemed older than him.

Connor glared at them and stopped bouncing Zoe up and down. Zoe noticed this and followed his gaze, gasping

Connor got up form the seesaw and was about to help the boy, when he remembered Zoe. His sister just smiled and said, "Go get 'em tiger!"

Connor nodded and sprinted towards the fight, just in time to help the boy before he got another kick in the stomach.

"Hey! Stop it!" He shouted. The boy on the floor looked helplessly at Connor.

"What do say we teach him a lesson too, Andy?" someone said to another.

Andy smirked and lunged towards Connor, but he beat him to it. Connor threw his fist at the boy.

Andy stumbled back as his face came contact to the punch. One of the boys gasped. "Andy! It's all bruised up!" He exclaimed.

Andy and his friends ran away as Connor helped the boy in the polo shirt up. "Th-thank y-you." He stuttered.

Connor laughed. "I'm Connor!" He introduced.

"E-Evan."

"Okay, hi E-Evan!"

"N-no, not-not E-Evan. It-it's j-just Evan."

Connor laughed and searched in the pockets of his hoodie. Finally, he pulled out a bandage and napkin.

"I'll be right back, just need to put some water on it." Connor explained, pointing to the napkin in his hands and rushed over to the nearby water fountain.

When he returned, Evan was trying to stand up. Connor sighed and pulled him down.

"No. You're hurt." He said sternly.
Connor saw Evan wince at his tone and felt incredibly guilty after it.

He avoided eye contact as he dabbed the wet napkin onto Evan's knee. After the blood was cleaned, he quickly covered it with a bandage.

"Does it still hurt?" He asked. Evan shook his head.

"Is my nose still bleeding?"

"Not anymore. But the dry blood makes you look like you just have brown dried boogers."

Evan laughed. "Come on, lets go play." Connor reached out his hand to help Evan up.

He accepted and was launched up by Connor. "What do you like to do at the park?" He began to ask.

"Sw-swings. Th-that's for s-sure."

"What's your favorite thing?"

"T-trees. Be-besides m-my mo-mom."

"You stutter a lot."

"Sorry."

"Nothing to be ashamed of."

"Sorry."

"And you say sorry a lot."

"Sorry!"

"You're doing it again!"

"Sorry!!"

Connor chuckled. "Just a joke! Calm down!" He said and pulled Evan back to the swing set.

He did it. He made a friend.
