Evan's POV

Dang it. Where do I sit? If only Jared was in this ONE CLASS that lets us choose seats!

Evan frantically looked around at the classroom full of students. His eyes suddenly landed on Connor, sitting alone in the back of the room with an empty desk next to him.

Evan sighed and dragged himself and plopped down in the chair. Connor shot him a smile as if saying 'thank you for not leaving me alone'.

Evan smiled back. He was supposed to turn back to his desk, but found himself drowning in those brown eyes. They were mesmerizing.

But he felt like he's seen those exact same pair before. But here again?

"WELCOME TO THE FIRST DAY OF SENIOR YEAR!!!" Ms. Flemming shouted. "NOW I WANT YOU ALL TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER FOR A WHILE BEFORE WE START CLASS!!"

Evan groaned. Talking and socializing with others. Yay! His favorite!!

"So uh." Connor said. "Um....tell me about yourself?"

It sounded a lot like a question than a command. Or demand. Or instruction.

"I-uh um...I-I" Evan was at a lost of words. "Uh-TREES!!

Connor chuckled while Evan blushed in embarrassment. Connor suddenly stopped laughing  and looked around.

Evan did the same and realized that the whole room has gone silent.

Fish feasting ferns! Did I shout? How loud??!!

"What are you all staring out?" Connor snapped. "Don't you all have some 'oh joy getting to know each other!' business to take care of?!"

Everyone immediately went back to their friends. Ms. Flemming was texting on her phone.

"Um....what's y-your favorite c-color?" Evan asked. Connor chuckled.

"Black. That's pretty obvious. Unless you're colorblind. Are you colorblind?"

"No."

"Okay, well, have you ever been to that park next to Glorybringer street?"

Evan nodded. "A few older kids bullied me just because I got onto the swing set before they did. A boy helped me though! H-he uh he was nice!" He continued. "But I feel so bad because I can't remember his name!"

Connor looked speechless. "Did you have a bloody nose? And a scraped knee?" He asked.

Evan nodded. How did he know? Could he read his mind?

"Did the boy help you clean the blood? And then you two played together?" Connor asked again.

Evan was starting to get a little creeped out. He only told his mom this story. Nobody else. The only other person who was......

Evan felt a jolt of realization and pointed to Connor. "You-I a-are you-I mean-uh was it you?" He asked.

Connor smiled a little. "It looks like I am." He said.

Evan beamed at him. It was his long last..... two-hours-of-being-together-friend-from-eleven-years-ago.

"Hey uhm, no one's signed your cast." Connor said, noticing the blank cast on Evan's hand.

"Oh yeah w-well I didn't expect anyone to."

"Well, I'll sign it."

"Oh no, y-you don't have t-to."

"It's fine."

Connor started digging in his backpack. Probably looking for a sharpie or something.

He finally pulled out a black sharpie and pulled Evan's arm towards him. Not too gently.

"Ow." Evan winced. Connor gave him an apologetic look and write in big messy letter: CONNOR

"Now we can both say that we have friends." He said, capping the sharpie and putting it back in his backpack.

"Well, we could actually be friends. That is-if you want to! Youdon'treallyhavetoIjustthoughtthatwecouldbecauseyouknowelevenyearsagowewerefriendsbutwewereonlytwohourfriends!!" Evan said quickly.

Connor took a moment process what Evan said and smiled. "Sure!" He said, enthusiastically.

"ALRIGHT IT'S TIME FOR THHR BORING STUFF!! Ms. Flemming shouted. "GRAB A PLAYER TWO BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO BE A PARTNER ASSIGNMENT!!"

Evan didn't know what the 'player two' part meant. But he figured it was supposed to mean a partner.

He and Connor looked at each other at the same time and smiled, knowing perfectly well what they other thinking.
