[Theo takes Liam on a romantic date to propose to him.]
[Liam's engagement ring ^.]
Theo was dressed in the nicest outfit he owned. It was a clean, plain white button up shirt, and faded blue jeans. He wasn't usually worried about the amount of clothes he owned or how fancy they were.
He slipped the little black box containing the silver ring in his pocket. He was nervous as hell but he didn't know what to do about it. He tried fixing his hair countless times, but Corey, who had come to help him told him he looked fine. It didn't help. He felt he had to look perfect for Liam.
"Liam loves you, Theo." Corey tried reassuring him for the hundredth time. "He'll say yes. He loves you with all his heart."
"How can you be sure?" Theo was still stressing.
"I hang with him with Mase. All he does is talk about how perfect you are. Just think of this like any other date. Then go down on one knee and propose." All he did was nod in response. He couldn't say anything else.
He had planned a dinner at a fancy restaurant that Liam had always wanted to go to for a date but neither of them could afford it. With the help of Corey and Mason and the little extra money Theo had after buying the ring, he managed to save enough money for a dinner that cost less than $200.
He pulled up in his truck to Liam's apartment complex. He saw Liam walk out in an outfit not much fancier than his so he was relieved by that. The box containing the ring seemed to weigh down in his pocket as he got out to open the door for his boyfriend. "Thank you." Liam said smiling. Theo couldn't help but smile back. The blue eyed boy's grin was infectious.
They made small talk, but Theo remained nervous. Liam could either hear his heartbeat or smell his chemosignals, or just the sheer fact that even a regular human like Stiles or Mason could tell that he was nervous, because Liam stopped talking about the his classes at the community college and asked, "Hey, Theo, you okay?" All he could do to answer was nod his head. "Don't lie."
"I can't tell you, baby wolf." Theo answered keeping his eyes trained on the road in front of him.
"Come on. We're supposed to tell each other everything." Liam pleaded.
"It's a surprise." They drove in silence for the next three minutes before Theo turned into the parking lot for the restaurant. Liam gasped catching sight of the red building.
"Theo . . ." Liam said softly, his voice trailing off as they got out of the truck.
"Surprise!" Theo yelled throwing his arms up like he did at the Liam's surprise birthday party with a big smile on his face, losing all the previous anxiety for just a moment.
"Theo, this place is expensive." Liam was still in shock.
"I saved up some money," said Theo. "And I may or may not have had some help from Mason and Corey."
Liam was still grinning stupidly as they entered the restaurant. They both felt very out of place with their more casual fancy clothes but they disposed of those thoughts as they were seated at a booth.
Theo decided to bring the one downside to eating at the restaurant. "I'm not going to be the cliche 'get whatever you want' type of guy because I wasn't able to save up that much money, but I will get you something as long as it keeps us below $200."
Liam chuckled. "I was just planning on getting the cheapest thing even if it was just lettuce or soup or something like that." Theo couldn't help but smile at his boyfriend as Liam looked down at the menu. His perfectly styled light brown hair, bright blue eyes, light pink lips. He couldn't quite understand how someone so perfect could like a guy like him, a manipulative, maybe psychopathic, murderer who would have done anything to get power. And sure, maybe he had tried to change since he came out of hell, but Liam still had so many reasons to hate him like the rest of his pack, but he forgave him. Theo was yanked out of his thoughts when Liam started talking again. "I probably will get a soup or something. I can't even pronounce more than half of the meals."
"You said you've always wanted to come here." Theo said with a slight shrug of his shoulders.
"I didn't ever think it was actually going to happen."
The waiter came to take their drink orders (they both just asked for water because neither of them drank any alcohol anyways because it didn't affect them) and then came back later with the drinks ready to take their dinner orders. Liam did end up just getting a tomato soup and Theo got a salad. The dinner only cost a $100 after they also ordered a desert because why not, they still had some money left.
Theo paid for the dinner and they made their way to the park, leaving the truck in the parking lot when they were ready to go home. It was beautiful at night. They were in New York so the city lights were just the right amount to light up their way. They were walking and Theo found the perfect spot to propose. Theo bent down on one knee as Liam turned to look at him, pulling out the box from his pocket in one swift movement. Liam gasped, covering his hand with his mouth.
"Liam Dunbar," Theo began. He was completely winging it. With how nervous he was with getting ready for the dinner, he had completely forgot about making a speech. "I don't know what you saw in me when you started to fall in love with me, but what I saw in you, was a strong and brave person. You've saved my life a few times that I feel like I still can't make up."
Liam took his hand from his mouth and gave a little mutter that Theo knew wasn't meant for him to hear but he still did. "You already have. Like one thousand times."
He let out a small laugh before continuing. "I want to be able to hold you every night. I want to be with you through everything the world throws at us. I want to be with you forever, Liam. That was really cheesy but I don't care." Liam laughed, tears threatening to spill from his beautiful blue eyes that seemed even more perfect with the city lights reflecting in them. "Will you marry me?"
Without any hesitation Liam answered, "No."
His heart shattered. It felt like Tara had just ripped his heart out again like in his nightmares. He had just proposed to his boyfriend and he said 'no'. He knew it. Corey was wrong. Liam didn't really love him like both his best friend and his boyfriend who also just so happened to be Liam's best friend said he did.
"You really are dumbass, aren't you. Of course I'll marry you, dumbass." And Liam had pulled him up and kissed him. Everything seemed to repair themselves. His heart, his mind, everything, when Liam had said 'yes', and was kissing him. He smiled into the kiss.
"You scared me." Theo whispered when he pulled back.
"Are you kidding, I would never say 'no' to a question like that coming from you!"
"Do you want the ring?"
"Duh, I am not wasting this kind of money." And Theo slipped the ring on Liam's middle finger on the right hand. Liam admired it.
"I can't believe this. Is this what you guys were always doing without me? Collecting money so you could buy the ring and pay for the dinner?"
"The dinner was a plus. I had about $50 extra saved and Mason and Corey pitched in the other $150."
"I love you so much right now." And they kissed again. Theo with his arms around Liam's waist and Liam with his around Theo's neck, just like the first time they kissed.
[For any confusion on why Theo put the ring on Liam's right middle finger instead of the traditional fourth finger on the left hand, it's because it's the ring finger for lgbt couples. It's on the right hand because of the RIGHT of same-sex marriage and on the middle finger because they're unique(?) I don't know the exact reason for the middle finger. If someone knows, please place it in the comments or you can look it up.]
