[Theo is in a coma and Liam talks to him everyday to keep him company until he wake up. Human au.]
Liam walked through Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital looking for Melissa McCall. He often came to the hospital to cheer up the patients, typically younger kids and teens but also the occasional adults and elderly. Melissa would give him a patient to cheer up and he would stay with them for a couple of hours.
Today, was no different as she found her eating a cheeseburger she probably got from her son, Scott, a friend of Liam's despite being a year older.
"Liam," she said, finishing her bite. She handed me a paper just like usual. It held all the general information of the patient I would be cheering up: their name, age, room number, and reason for being in the hospital. "Here you go. The patient doesn't get many visitors."
"Thank you." And she went back to eating and taking calls from time to time. Liam walked off, looking down at the slip of paper in his hands. It read:
Name: Theodore Allen Raeken
Age: 17
Room: 214
Condition/Injury: ComatoseLiam couldn't help but wonder how the teen had gotten in a coma but he didn't bring it up when Melissa looked up at him asking if he had questions.
Liam walked into the elevator that contained a doctor and a patient as some were allowed to walk around and get exercise. The elevator stopped on he second floor, Liam's stop, and walked out. The second floor smelled the same as the first floor and just about every other floor and room in the hospital: antiseptic.
He found room 214 with a clipboard attached to the door. It contained information about the patient he came to visit but it was 1) not something he needed to worry about and 2) an invasion of privacy.
Liam opened the door to find a teen only a year older than him, according to the slip of paper, fast asleep. He couldn't help but admire how angelic the teen looked. His face was slightly paler than usual but that could have been due to not getting exposure to the sun. His light brown hair unbrushed and messy. Liam wondered what color his eyes were. A light blue like his own? Brown? Green? What he did know was they were sure to pretty no matter what color they were.
He closed the door behind him.
"Hey, Theo." He began, sitting down in the chair that sat next to the little hospital bed. "My name's Liam Dunbar. I volunteered to come talk to you. I heard coma patients can hear you when you're talking. I don't really know what you're interested in. I don't know if you're interested in the same things I am. I like lacrosse and video games mostly." Liam rambled on and on just talking to the coma patient. He told him things about himself.
Liam had to leave an hour after he began talking to Theo because he had to get ready for lacrosse practice.
"Well, I guess I'll see you again. Maybe next week." Liam paused, thinking for a moment. "Maybe I could ask Melissa if I can talk with specifically. Their are a lot of other people who talk to the other patients but no one apparently talks to you."
Liam contemplated what he was going to do next a good-bye gesture. He ended up grabbing the teen's hand and squeezed it. He didn't expect anything to happen, but there was still a part hoping Theo would squeeze back or make any sign that he had felt the pressure on his hand, but he didn't.
