[Liam Dunbar is a Gryffindor. Theo Raeken is a Slytherin. They are supposed to hate each other but they oddly don't. Hogwarts au. Human au.]

"Come on, Dumbar. It's certainly not that hard." Theo Raeken mocked the Gryffindor boy. Liam had, once again, messed up the potion he was concocting. They were supposed to be making a shrinking potion. It was supposed to be a bright neon green, but his was a dark purple.

Theo constantly bullied Liam. Liam never really knew why Theo hated him. It might have been just the old Gryffindor/Slytherin rivalry, but the only person that really knew was Theo himself. You know why? Because even Theo's best friend, Corey Bryant (a Hufflepuff that had managed to break through Theo's fields of hate, over the wall, and into the green fields of love and good) , Liam's best friend's boyfriend couldn't tell them what the Slytherin's problem was.

It started in second year when Liam made the Gryffindor Quidditch team and Theo hadn't made the Slytherin team, or that was at least what the trio figured. That was, until one day in fifth year when he approached the Gryffindor table at dinner grinning and whispered into Mason's ear something that caused him to also start smiling like a complete idiot.

Liam being the curious person he was, glanced over in the direction of where Theo was sitting figuring it had something to do with him. He caught Theo glaring daggers at Corey's back. Theo's gaze shifted slightly over to Liam, and almost immediately the hate in his eyes were gone. Replaced with a shy, bashful look as he quickly tilted his head down to hide what appeared to be a light coating of pink across his cheek. Liam, confused at the strange action turned his attention back to the giggling couple.

"What?" He had asked. The answer he got was more giggles. They never answered the question whenever he brought it up afterward but they were constantly whispering to each other from that point on.

"And what, Mr. Dunbar, do you think you are mixing?" Liam shrugged, as an answer to Professor Snape's question, whilst trying to clean out the cauldron to restart. "Did you perhaps add the beetroots before mixing counter-clockwise for a minute?" Another shrug of an answer. He was cowering away from the professor, slightly afraid of getting docked points if he answered in words because he knew his I.E.D would act up quicker that way and he was guaranteed to get detention cleaning the old jars that used to contain slimy ingredients.

"Speak up-- what did Mr. Raeken call you?-- Dumbar?" Snape asked with an icy cold stare, his lip curling into a sneer.

"I don't know."

"Five points from Gryffindor for inability to speak when spoken to." Snape announced, moving away from the Gryffindor. The blue eyed boy was already gripping the phials he had in his hands tightly but his anger finally got the better of him and he squeezed the glass so tightly that one of them broke. Everyone was either looking at him still from the encounter, at Snape, or continuing their work. Now he had everyone's attention on him again. He cursed under his breath as he bent down to pick up the bits of broken glass, ignoring the blood seeping down his palm. Theo tried holding himself back from looking, but he couldn't control himself from looking at Liam's ass as he bent over.

After Potions, Liam began ranting to Mason about how unfair Snape was while wrapping a bandage around his hand to stop the bleeding until he had time to go to Madam Pomfrey in the infirmary. Theo was stalking along behind the two, wondering if the two were ever separate. He wanted to ask Liam if he wanted to go to Hogsmeade together the weekend before winter break started. Corey and Mason always went together while Liam third-wheeled, and Theo always just hung back at the castle. He didn't think he could control his emotions for a whole day around Liam.
