"This is what you call fun?" Elsa gaped at him. Anna left for 'official business' which Elsa hoped had something to do with an accountant.
She stood on the banks on the outskirts of Arendelle with him, and Jack had been tossing snowballs at unsuspecting kids.
"Doesn't it hurt them?" Elsa watched the kid, worry crinkling her brow as the haunting scene replayed in her mind.
Even though it was years ago, Elsa doubted she would ever forget the night where she took having a good time out of its limits. The night she had frozen Anna's mind.
"As long as the snowball is normal, they are fine." Jack smiled at the giggling children who began to pick up snowballs of their own. "But we're about to be creamed!! RUN!!!"
Jack leaped on his staff and flew up past their throw's range.
Elsa looked frantically around for cover, but she wasn't fast enough, snow pelted her face and ran down the back of her dress.
They stopped eventually, running out of snowballs, but once Elsa had shaken the snow and hair out of her face, she saw the children's frightened expressions.
"What is wrong?" Elsa looked around trying to pinpoint what they were scared of.
"It's the queen." one of them whispered.
Another child with tight braids squeaked, "Our apologies m' lady, we didn't know it was you."
Elsa's face relaxed, if that was all they were worried about . . . she hid her hands behind her back, meanwhile summoning snow.
"I am very disappointed in you." Elsa scolded, biting her smile back. "You did't bring enough snowballs for this."
The children's faces shot up, confusion clearly their only emotion.
Piles of harmless snow fell from the sky towards the children.
"AHHH RUNN!!" One of them squealed with joy, as they tried to escape the snow drift.
Elsa watched them, laughing till her sides hurt, which was probably a bad idea, since it gave the children time to rearm themselves.
For hours Elsa didn't count, she played with these children having the time of her life.
As it neared the night, the sun dipped below the horizon painting a beautiful canvas of pretty colors.
Elsa carried the last child, who had fallen asleep curled up next to her, to her home.
The child's parent's opened the door, and their eyes widened with shock.
"We are so sorry! What happened" They apologized profusely.
"Oh I assure you, nothing is the matter, we had the world's best snowball fight. Evelyn just fell asleep soon after we finished." Elsa explained as she gently passed the sleeping child to her mother.
"Thank you my queen, we promise it will never happen again, to bring you away from your work for so long . . . we apologize for making her a burden to add to your day." The father fiddled with the doorframe nervously.
"No worries, I will play with them whenever they want. I loved it." Elsa smiled at them at bowed, signaling her leave.
The couple bowed and shut the door.
"Ouch." Jack said as he hovered above out of sight from the couple.
"What?" Elsa inquired.
"I mean, they automatically assumed that their child had been a burden to you instead of thinking that maybe you had a day off." He explained.
"As you've probably picked up on, I don't take days off often. So the villagers are always confused when I do take one." She sighed. "Where did you go anyways?" Elsa had noticed that he had left soon after she had started world war one with snowballs.
"While you get breaks, however rare they are, I can't. Obviously, since there are people like you who refuse to have fun." Jack landed on the street next to her and walked her to the castle.
"Like me?" Elsa asked.
"Yeah, stubborn hardworking and boring people who don't do 'fun'." Jack laughed a little seeing Elsa's expression.
"Excuse me?! I do fun!" Elsa protested.
Jack ticked his tongue, "If you had recently, I wouldn't have been sent here."
"You were sent here?" Elsa wondered.
Jack looked at the sky. "By him." he pointed to the beautiful moon that had made a feint appearance. "Yes, sent, this is what I do every day, and I wouldn't change it for the world."
Elsa gave him a side glance. She had misjudged him.
When she first saw him that morning, Elsa had rolled her eyes, figuring that he was one of those people who just flew around and messed with people's lives.
Now Elsa saw a passion in him, he really enjoyed making people happy, and that was admirable.
"So where did you have to go earlier? Did someone else need a day off?" Elsa asked.
Jack shook his head. "there are other things we do than spread happiness and such, real issues to deal with."
Elsa nodded in understanding, being queen wasn't all writing papers, it was also about making bonds with their people. Something that Elsa needed to work on, though today was a good start.
"That is also why I came here." Jack said suddenly.
Elsa quirked her eyebrow, "Also?"
He nodded. "There is a villian arising nearby, one that pretty much everyone is terrified of, which is a bad thing, because that makes him stronger."
"Who is he?" Elsa asked, a little frightened about the news.
"He goes by many names, the reaper, a grim. Many know him as death."Whoo!! Another chapter done!! As you can see, this may be a little darker than what Disney would have done, I'll stop talking so no spoilers. -Agent Em
