One Little Snowflake

Cursed

"Death was here?" Rapunzel pretended to be shocked.

Mara nodded, her eyes darting nervously back and forth.

Then her scared expression shifted into one of malice and eagerness.

"Are you okay?" Rapunzel asked, cautiously stepping back from Mara.

Mara's voice was now as ominous as though a hundred voices were speaking at one. "We are fine." They said.

Rapunzel turned away from her as her body jerked, growing larger with every twitch.

Black horns erupted from their forehead, and wings off their back.

Rapunzel ran, terror striking her every muscle and vein.

"Yessssssss feeeear uusssss." Their voices rang out.

"Join ussss." Another hissed.

They climbed the alley wall and chased after Rapunzel, who was tripping on the ruts and pebbles on the dried ground.

Right as soon as she made it out of the alley, they jumped, landing on top on her.

She slammed into the ground, her lip bleeding and teeth throbbing from the jolt.

Rapunzel screamed as a fire like sensation trickled in her arm.
Black liquid poured from the wound and under her skin turned grey with black spiderwebs forming through it.

She heard a familiar sound.

BOOM!!

The impact of Toothless's plasma blast and the beast made Rapunzel's ears ring so bad, that's all she could hear.

She looked up, pushing her torso off the ground with her good arm.

Toothless and Hiccup landed, his fire sword ready.

"Where did it go!?" His muffled shout she managed to hear said.

Rapunzel shrugged her shoulders, the small action making her head swim.

She pressed her hand on her forehead and collapsed.

Anna ran through the castle at the sound of people screaming.
She threw open the balconies' doors and grabbed the rails.

Thousands upon thousands of diamond shaped runes hovered in the air, their sharp edges snagging on the people of Arendelle's clothing.

"What do we do know?" Kristoff appeared at her side.

"Whatever it takes." Anna muttered, pulling the book she found in the castle's library.
"Look at this." She pointed to the bookmarked page. "Its a whole chapter about magical born children and where they get their powers."

"What does that mean." Kristoff asked, confused.

"It means that, the runes have appeared before."

"What do you mean? I don't remember anything like this." He said, watching the runes like they were a curse.

"They appeared not long ago, just before Elsa's birth. The ones in the castle were to resemble her since she's the queen.
'If you read the ones out there," Anna pointed outwards. "They mean air, frustration, youth, and trolls."

"Okay, but what does that mean?" Kristoff wondered.

"It means that another person is being born with powers, like Elsa was. One who will be able to control air." Anna explained in a rush.

The two jumped back as two runes appeared in front of them.

One read Born, the other read Cursed.

Anna just about touched the born rune, but it splintered and fell.

The cursed rune glew bright and disappeared in a blue flash.

"Does that mean-" Kristoff whispered, unable to finish the sentence.

"Cursed not born." Anna said. "Elsa was born with her powers, so the next person had to be cursed."

Just then, the clouds above them whirled in a dangerous green swirl.
