A/N I'm not dead!!! I know!!! I'm updating???
Before I continue with this, I want to say something: I am so FREAKING angry about the Sophitz in Flashback that I have almost given up all hope for Foster-Keefe and the ending of this series. But anyway, here you go:Day after day of Keefe watching Sophie with Fitz, he wanted to dissociate. For real. The crushing weight he felt every time they shared a look was unbearable.
Fitz didn't even bother paying attention to Keefe. Didn't bother explaining himself, offering an apology as a best friend. Fitz knew. Fitz freaking knew.
That was the hardest part for Keefe.
Then they broke up. Keefe couldn't say who was more ecstatic - him or Dex. Dex nearly lost his best friend. Keefe nearly lost both of his.
Months of longing looks from Keefe; months of fighting and ghosting and the crew practically falling apart. Then the two called it quits.
More weeks of tears from Sophie, beating herself up. Months of half-heartedly consoling Fitz.
Now everything was more or less normal. Sophie and Fitz weren't as close, but everything was stable.
"Tell her," Ro commanded for the fourteenth time that day.
Keefe shot her another uninterested look. He knew very well it was his opportunity, but he wasn't going to bite. It had to feel right.
He had to make sure it didn't ruin his friendship.
"We're just meeting up with Silveny and the fam. Her and her sparkley babies missed me too much. Can't blame them."
Ro looked at Keefe, disappointed, but knew better than to say anything. "Don't get hurt," she supplied.
"Only in your dreams," he cooed, heading to the Leapmaster.
As he glittered away, he could make out Ro's disappointed expression.

"Foster!" Keefe called to the blonde girl beneath the beautiful Panakes tree.
She turned around, the sun hitting her perfectly so the light formed a glowing halo around her hair, and illuminating the golden flecks in her brown eyes. It took Keefe's breath away.
"Right on time!" Sophie responded with a smile - a genuine smile.
Keefe couldn't suppress his nerves. His thoughts telling him to abandon all hope, his heart clenching, making looking at and thinking about her physically painful. But he smiled nonethelss.
"Where are we going today?" Keefe asked, sitting next to Sophie under the tree. He ran a hand through his unruly blond locks - his trademark nervous tick - and used his other hand to pick up a blossom.
More emotions hit Keefe - and not all his own. Pain, sorrow, and love hit him like a brick, emotions both his and Sophie's.
"I know," Keefe said softly, not offering an explanation or an opportunity for an answer. "We should get going though. Can't leave the two shimmer tooshies waiting too long."
"'Shimmer tooshies'?" Sophie questioned, cocking an eyebrow.
"I believe a better name is in order."
Sophie nodded and walked to the cliff's edge, offering a hand to Keefe. As Keefe took her hand, he was thankful, once again, that empathy wasn't an ability Forkle felt was necessary.
They backed up together, then ran at the cliff at top speed. As they plummeted down Keefe did his usual whooping, loving the rush, needing something other than grief, and pain, and anticipation.
Sophie opened the void and they were there, suspended in air and time for a little, then she reopened the rift and they landed on a field of green and purple, where they were greeted by four alicorns.
Keefe let go of Sophie's hand, and Silveny and the baby alicorns rushed to his side, begging for attention.
"You don't have to tell me Glitter Butt missed me more than you - I can feel it. I bet she's chanting 'KEEFE KEEFE KEEFE' in your head right now."
The way Sophie rubbed her temples was enough of an answer for Keefe.
"Oh, shut it Keefe."

Back at Havenfield, the two took a walk down to the cave and the beaches mindlessly. Revisiting old memories, both painful and joyous.Sophie sat on a rock and stared at the water, likely lost in thought.
"I'm crazy about you Sophie - I have been. It's been you since the beginning."
Keefe wasn't entirely sure he had said it out loud until Sophie looked over at Keefe with an unidentifiable look in her eyes.
For an empath, Keefe wasn't too great with figuring out emotions and thoughts - especially Sophie's - but the way she was smiling at him, and the emotion radiating off her in waves told Keefe everything was going to work out how he always wanted it to.
A/N Who wants me to continue writing? I think I will, it makes me feel a lot less stressed. Also, if you want to chat about the points in Flashback that you didn't enjoy, I'm all for it. Thanks for reading! (It's also kind of short - sorry 'bout that)
