Caity
I knew something was wrong. I always knew when something was wrong with him. The fact that he wasn't as hyped and jumping up and down after a few songs already said enough to me. I watched him with a growing worry while he did his best to throw out his lyrics, but when he was near the end of Pain I noticed he wasn't singing the complete lyrics, just so he was able to catch his breath before dropping the mic with a thud on the ground and leaning on the mic stand. He looked straight at me and the weary look in his eyes told me everything. He staggered my way on shaky legs, looking pale and absent.
'Austin?,' I said, looking him up and down while trying not to panic. 'Austin!' His eyes trailed my face but didn't seem to see me.
'Cait -,' he sighed with hearable difficulty. 'I can't –' His words were incoherent and he grunted. His face darkened and he bumped into me, trying to hold on to me but his grip quickly slackened.
'Daddy?!,' Hailey let out, her eyes big when Austin suddenly went down without a warning.
'Help me!,' I yelled in panick as I caught him just in time to save him from full collaps on the floor. His eyes rolled back and he was too heavy for me to keep him up, so I let myself sink down with Austin in my arms. Alan ran up up to us, almost throwing his guitar aside.
'Austin!' He grabbed Austin and carefully put him on the floor. There were more people gathering around us now but I hardly noticed the guys letting out panicking yells and Peter grabbing his phone to call an ambulance when Austin's body went into a seizure. Hailey screamed in fear and I felt my own body starting to give in to the panick attack, but I pushed it away. Everything seemed to happen in a slow blur.
'Alan, take Hailey out of here!,' I yelled. Alan took her up and carried her away, her screams for her father following them. The rest of the band had hurried backstage, leaving the stage without a warning. They all looked at me holding Austin in horror. I could only pay attention to him, watching him as he started cramping up and shaking while still being unconscious. I let out a muffled yelp behind my hand, trying to keep myself calm because I knew there was nothing I could do to calm his body down, but I almost prayed that there was because the scene was horrific. His face was pained and uncomfortable, but he didn't regain conscious yet.
A blood curling scream made me look up at Alison watching the scene with wide eyes, hands in front of her mouth and trembling all over her body.
'No! Austin! No!' Aaron took her by her shoulders and sat her down an instrument crate, trying to calm her down by talking softly to her, but I knew he himself was also in fear. They both looked at us, me holding a still seizuring Austin, not knowing what to do but wait for medical help.
Eventually, to give myself the idea I was at least doing something, I carefully took his head in my lap and stroke through his hair, not even noticing I was crying.
'No, no, no, no! Austin, please don't do this to me!,' I cried while I was cupping his face with my hands. People were rushing around us, voices were shouting in different directions and it was chaos, but the only thing that was on my mind was the sight of Austin blacking out right in front of me. I was softly rocking myself for- and backwards and stroking his hair; not that it helped him but it was the only thing I could do right now. My tears were dripping from my face unto his and I kept wiping them away with my thumbs. 'Austin? Please wake up, please. Don't do this to me. Come one, wake up,' I sobbed softly.
Tino had hurried back to the bus to grab the medical information papers Austin always took with him, Phil was pacing up and down and Aaron was sat on the instrument crate together with Alison, blankly staring at me and Austin in shock. Peter had went on stage to inform the unknowing crowd that the show had to stop immediately due to a medical issue. He didn't give any further information since none of us knew anything more than we did right now.
