"Here are your test results." Aizawa monotonously announced before going around the class and passing each of you your copies of the most recent mathematics evaluation. The tension was so thick that you could've probably cut it with a knife. The first exclamation came from Midoriya, who was smiling brightly as he scanned through his copy. He must have gotten a good grade. Not even a minute later, you heard Bakugou let out a relieved sigh and Kaminari groan before slamming his face into his desk.
'Same.' You couldn't help but think as Aizawa approached you. Your heartrate picked up as he plopped your copy face down on the desk, carrying on to give the others their note. You took a deep breath, shaking hands reaching down to pick up the cursed paper. How was it that you could fight villains without fear but receiving a math grade could be the literal death of you?
You slid back into your seat as you noticed the red 98% written next to your name, a hand clutched on the material of your shirt as you attempted to bring your heartrate down. "Thank goodness." You sighed out. You really needed that grade to keep your average where it was.
"What?! How?!" Sero screeched from beside you, quickly looking through his own test. "I don't understand! I thought I knew all of this!" No one could snicker or mock his behaviour, since according to what you could see, a few students had gotten low grades like him.
"What'd you get?" You asked, leaning over. The raven haired boy reeled back, pushing the copy to his chest as his cheeks were set ablaze.
"U-Uh!" He stuttered, fully aware that it was no use to lie to you. He knew that you knew he didn't do well, but still. It was embarrassing. His eyes fell onto the floor, which seemed way more interesting now that he was about to humiliate himself in front of you.
"No need to feel ashamed!" Kaminari butted in. "You couldn't have done worse than me. I got a 53."
"Hah! I bested you!" Mina declared. "I got 49!"
"You guys shouldn't be proud of that!" Kirishima frowned, worried about his friends' sanity. "But if we're comparing grades, I got a 79. I think everyone sort of flunked this test..."
"You extras can suck it!" Bakugou yelled, a grin of success on his lips. "I got 95%!"
"What'd you get, (L/N)?" Mina curiously asked, leaning over you to read your test. Once her eyes scanned over the two numbers, she sank onto her knees and sarcastically bowed.
"What?! What'd you get?!" Sero exclaimed, desperate to have the attention off him and his humiliating grade.
You braced yourself before speaking, knowing you'd trigger Bakugou's wrath once more.
"98%."
"WHAT?!" There goes the ticking timebomb. He stomped over, practically seething as he ripped the evaluation from your hands. "HOW?!"
"This extra studies." You sassed and pointed to yourself before averting your attention to something more important. "What'd you get, Sero? I promise I won't mock you, even if you got 3%." You said, leaning close as if you could get a peak of the sheet of paper still pressed closely to his chest. His face became redder if possible, looking up at the ceiling as he gathered the courage to speak.
The soon-to-be tape hero mumbled something you and the others didn't quite get. Seeing the confused faces around him, he spoke louder. "I got 69%..."
Your teenager mind went blank. "Like... on the spot? Or did you round it up?"
"On the spot..." He stammered, finally placing his copy down for the world to see. As soon as it was confirmed, Mina and Kaminari lost their composure and fell to the ground, laughing like idiots. You, however, kept your promise and managed to keep a somewhat straight face. Kirishima was simply muttering a long, drawn out 'yooooo...' under his breath, looking dazed.
"Ouch, that's rough, buddy." You apologetically patted his back as your dear friend's head hung low. "You know, you should have accepted Momo's help when she proposed it..."
"I know." He muttered. At this point, Hanta would have been content with a lower note, just so he didn't have to suffer the curse of the sixty nine, or get your pity like this. Why couldn't he be smart like you?
"Well, as long as your average isn't 69%, right?" Your attempt to cheer him up was appreciated, but unsuccessful whatsoever.
"Class is dismissed for the day." Aizawa announced. Before any students had the time to get up and gather their stuff, he continued to speak. "Ashido, Kaminari, Yaoyorozu, Sero and (L/N). I want you all to stay after the bell rings."
For a short moment, you thought you were in trouble but soon rejected the idea. If it were the case, Bakugou would be staying with you and Momo wouldn't be there, either. The nature of your convocation still remained a mystery, though.
You watched as the rest of your classmates packed up and left, shooting you curious glances. You knew you'd have to answer their endless questions once you arrived at the dorms.
When you were only five left, Aizawa decided to go straight to the point of why you were all here. "(L/N) and Yaoyorozu. You two will be tutoring." Ah, this makes sense. "Yaoyorozu, you'll be responsible of Ashido and Kaminari. (L/N), you're assigned to Sero."
The boy let his smile show for barely a second before hiding it behind a surprised expression. He didn't want to seem too enthusiastic about this, or you might figure something out... He doesn't want to end up confessing to you only to have you answer with 'yeah, I know already'. That was his worst nightmare. Glancing at you, he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed to see you with furrowed eyebrows and lips pressed in a straight line. Obviously you weren't as ecstatic about this as him.
Hold up, what? "Sir, wouldn't it be easier if Momo and I tutored all three of them together?" You asked, confused as to why poor Momo had to deal with not only Mina, but Kaminari too. Those two tended to be a terrible duo.
"It's more efficient this way. Ashido and Kaminari both had similar mistakes on their tests. It's obvious that they both don't understand anything about parables. Sero, on the other hand, had a lot of difficulty with missing variables. It'd be counterproductive to have them three with the same tutor and waste more time."
"That makes sense, but-"
"I'm not the one who made the decision, (L/N)." Your homeroom teacher cut off. "If you have any issues, talk with Ectoplasm. He's your math teacher after all." With that, you sighed. What he was saying made sense, but you felt so bad for Momo... And you also felt uneasy about spending one-on-one time with Sero.
Not that you didn't want to, you'd love to spend time with him alone, considering your... feelings. It's just that it had never happened before, and you were afraid that things might get awkward. Whenever the two of you interacted, someone else was with you, which usually made the conversation flow better. You had no idea if the two of you would get along as well alone, and you were afraid that you wouldn't.
"We came up with a schedule. Twice a week, you will go down to the library and study for a minimum of thirty minutes together. (L/N), the library is yours on Mondays and Fridays after class. Yaoyorozu, the same goes to you but on Tuesdays and Thursdays."
Without further ado, Aizawa dismissed you all as well. As soon as the door closed behind you, Kaminari sighed. "Man, I really wanted to study with mom!"
"Me too! No offense, Yaoyorozu!" Mina added, making you sigh.
"Stop calling me mom."
"But you're the mom friend!" Sero pointed out. Before the conversation could continue, Momo pipped up.
"Isn't this exciting though? Tutoring lessons! In the school library! I never went there before!"
"This should prove to be interesting to say the least." You agreed, briefly glancing at Sero. It was bound to be somewhat interesting when you'd be spending a minimum of thirty minutes alone with a pretty boy.
"Y-Yeah!" He agreed, cheeks becoming slightly redder.
