Davina Claire and Klaus Mikaelson did not think either of them would ever fall in love with the other. However, each one was soon proven wrong.

After the loss of Kol, Davina was bitter towards the Mikaelsons, angry with them, herself and the entire world. She had lost the man she loved, and she didn't know how to move on without him. For quite a while, she didn't think she would be able to move on from him.

Klaus Mikaelson made sure to keep an eye on Davina. He was secretly a bit upset himself that his brother was gone, and he felt a sort of strange need to keep an eye on Davina, to make sure she would be alright. At first he assumed it was because he felt sorry for her, and because he wanted to stay updated on her movements since she had become Regent of the New Orleans witches. But he began to feel differently after a while. He felt the need to try to make friends with her, to get closer to her.

Klaus stopped Davina one morning as she was walking down the street. They were both on their way to the cemetery, where Klaus had known he might be able to find Davina. He called out to her and waved a hand. Davina stopped and turned around, but she didn't show any reaction to him.

"What do you want, Klaus?" she asked. "I have a busy day ahead of me, so please make it quick."

"Very well. I'd like to be your friend, Davina."

Davina raised her eyebrows. "For real? Are you serious?"

"I'm usually quite serious, Davina. I would like to be friends."

Davina saw that he actually did seem very serious. Why he would suddenly want to be friends, she had no idea, but it couldn't be for any good reason.

"Fine," she said, "But I thought we were enemies. Frenemies, then?"

Klaus smiled. "Why not? Let's do it, then."

Davina didn't expect much to come of that, but then the two of them actually began to meet up quite often to talk. She found herself liking Klaus a lot more than she should have, and she began to feel like he wasn't her enemy, or even a frenemy. It felt like something else was going on.

One afternoon, Klaus insisted on walking Davina home after one of their meetings, which didn't really feel like meetings at all. When they arrived, Klaus said, "Well, I suppose I'll be seeing you again sometime soon."

Davina nodded. "Sure. See you soon."

She waited a moment to see if Klaus would walk away, but he didn't. He just stood there looking down at her.

"What is it?" she asked, assuming something was wrong.

"I believe I may be letting my feelings get the best of me," Klaus answered. "I think I'm far more fond of you than I should be."

"Oh. Well, I think I like you a little more than I should, too."

Klaus bent down and kissed her softly on the lips, which Davina was sort of expecting, but she didn't mind, and she welcomed the kiss.

"I'll see you soon," Davina whispered when the kiss was over.

"I hope so," Klaus whispered back.

Davina went inside feeling as if her entire life had suddenly changed. Klaus Mikaelson was more than a frenemy after all.
