Michael walked into Mia's room and found her still asleep. She looked so at peace that he didn't want to disturb her. He asked the nurse in the room to help him prepare for her discharge. The doctor gave an ok to Michael and he decided to pack her belongings. All she really had were the clothes she came in and the new toys gifted to her. When everything was ready, the nurse gently woke up Mia to take out her IV. Mia fluttered her lashes in confusion and tried to rub the sleep out from her eyes.
Mia looked at Michael and smiled. Michael could feel his heart get heavy. He's been wanting to adopt for so many years. It's been a dream of his. If he could, he would adopt every child in need on earth. He couldn't believe this precious little girl was all his. He couldn't wait to introduce her to his family. Their family.
"Hey there sleepy head," Michael joked. "Are you ready to meet your new family?"
"Wait.... it worked?" Mia questioned with big eyes. "I'm really your daughter now?" she asked with a grin.
Michael couldn't help but giggle at her excitement. "Yes babygirl, you're all mine and I'm all yours. Now lets get out of here and meet your siblings. They're very excited to meet you Mia." Michael had called Prince, Paris, and Blanket once everything was finalized. They were shocked initially but they know their father. Everything he does is from the purity of his heart. If he was willing to raise and love Mia like his own flesh and blood, they were willing to do the same.
Mia changed out of the hospital gown and into her own clothes. Michael's bodyguard held on to the bags full of her new toys and they made their way to the car. There were lots of paparazzi outside trying to click a photo of Michael. All this chaos was new to Mia. She stopped walking towards the door once she saw all those people outside. Michael noticed her hesitation. He bent down and asked her if she's ok. She looked sort of dazed with all the flashes.
Michael realized this was going to be difficult for her to adjust when he decided on adopting her in the first place. He couldn't possibly expect her to adapt to this new life right away. He quickly picked Mia up into his arms and pushed her head down to his neck. He held on to her really tight.
"Ok sweetheart, we're gonna go outside those doors now and quickly get into the car. Just keep your head down and close your eyes. I got you don't worry," I said as I held her even tighter. We made it out the doors and the paparazzi was in a frenzy. Flash after flash.
"Michael! Who's this little girl?"
"How do you feel about Paris's modeling career?"
"Is it true Prince isn't your biological son?"Michael's POV
I hated this. It's bad enough when they come after me, but now with my children all grown up, they go after them as well. Why can't they just leave us alone. Take the pictures, I don't mind. But why attach a lie to it. Why wouldn't Prince be my biological son? The media has to tear down every aspect of my life. First it was the color of my skin, then my surgeries, the allegations, and now the legitimacy of my own children.
If Prince and Paris were actually adopted, I would never hide that from the world. Adoption is a beautiful thing. I'm not gonna lie to the world and say Mia is my biological child. No. I adopted her and there is nothing wrong with that. My capability of loving her as my own doesn't change. Prince, Paris, and Blanket are all my biological children. I can't help it if they look light. They are mixed children... God people need to stop being so ignorant.
I was lost in my thoughts when I felt Mia pull on my hair. I snapped out of this long trance and looked down at her on my lap. We were in the car, and she was still in the same position as when we left the hospital. I chuckled and said, "Mia i think you're pulling on my hair."
She looked up at me and realized my curls got stuck in her bracelet. She gave me an embarrassed smile and said, "Sorry Michael, it was my bracelet."
"It's okay sweetheart. And Mia? You know you can call me Daddy if you want? I won't force you to but it's always gonna be an option ok?" I reminded her reassuringly.
"I think I can get used to that," she said with a smile.
The rest of the car ride i held her close to me, resting my chin on her head. Once we reached the hotel, we made our way to my floor. I had rented out a whole floor for safety. I go into my room and see that Paris is putting on her shoes about to leave. Prince and Blanket are doing what they do best, playing video games.
All 3 of my babies ran up to me for a hug as I entered the room. Prince had just turned 22, Paris about to be 21, and Blanket 17; yet they are still attached to me like they're little toddlers. And to tell you the truth, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my children and I love being a father. Even with all the goals I've accomplished and all the records I broke, my biggest accomplishment to date is being their father.
Mia held on to my shirt and was hiding half of herself behind me. I didn't realize she was so shy. I mean yes I noticed she was shy but she reacted differently when it was just me. I tried to pull her in front of me, and she did but she held on to my shirt really tight. I could tell Mia was already attached to me. I was the only familiar face she had going forward now.
"Mia, this is Prince, Paris, and Blanket," I said pointing out each sibling to her. "And this is Mia." All 3 of them said hello to her. Prince bent down and gave her a hug.
"How old are you Mia?" Prince asked.
"I'm 10 going to be 11 soon," she whispered.
Prince was always good with breaking the ice. He was warm and affectionate, and might I say, he gets that from his dad 😎. Paris, on the other hand, has always been a complete daddy's girl. She was my only girl and the apple of my eye. I was always more lenient with her when my kids were younger. She would stare at me with those big blue eyes, and all my disciplinarian methods would go out the window.
Paris has always been a little more possessive of me. Now there's another little girl in our family dynamic. I'm hoping she takes this transition as smoothly as possible. Paris is pretty much a grown up now so I'm hoping jealousy won't be an issue.
Blanket is my little twin. Literally from the way he looks to the way he acts, he's exactly like me. He's probably gonna have a harder time bonding with Mia because he's so shy. Im excited to have all my 4 kids with me. This is truly a dream come true.
I have Grace take Mia to the spare room to get her settled down. Paris grabs her bag and kisses me on the cheek. "Don't be late Daddy!" Paris warned. I laughed because my kids knew I take forever to get ready.
"Are you crazy? I'm not missing this for the world. My babygirl's first fashion show!" I said excitedly. "We're all gonna be there don't worry sweetheart." I watched as Paris headed out the door. All our outfits for this show were preplanned and ready for us. Now I needed to get Mia an outfit. To be continued
