Mia's POV
Everything was happening so fast. It all felt surreal. Just a few hours ago, I was alone with no home set for me to go back to. I felt this void. I didn't feel like anyone was on my side, protecting me. And here I am now, the daughter of this megastar who barely knows me. Yet he opened his heart up to me. He opened up the doors to his family for me. All I feel is gratitude. Although Michael said not to feel like I owe him anything, I can't help but feel indebted to this wonderful human being.
Prince, Paris, and Blanket all seem very nice. Especially Prince. He gave me a hug. I'm guessing the Jacksons are big on hugs because, Michael and Prince were more than happy to just give them out. My biological family never did things like that. Well, I guess my biological dad did, but he was always busy with work. My biological mom never hugged me. Never.
Blanket seemed very quiet. After Grace took me to my bedroom, he came in and offered me some candy. He spoke very few words but this gesture meant a lot to me. Paris was nice too, I guess. But she didn't seem to really pay much attention to me. When Michael introduced us to each other, she smiled and said hello and that's about it. She didn't even look at me after that.
Grace also seemed nice. She had this warmth to her. I don't know how to explain it. I've never really been around women that just exuded this type of affection. She didn't even have to do much. All I knew was that I was comfortable around her. She helped me take a bath. I was still bruised up pretty bad and had bandages around my ribs and arms. She took care of all of that for me.
Once I was done taking a bath, I was sitting on the bed in a big fluffy robe. Grace was behind me trying to style my hair. I looked at the handful of mini chocolates Blanket had given me earlier. As Grace detangled my hair, I sat there peeling one wrapper after another. In about 10 minutes, I had managed to get melted chocolate everywhere. The robe, the sheets, my cheeks.
Michael entered the room with a bag in his hands. He noticed my massacre of the chocolates right away. He walked over to me shaking his head, and took the rest of the chocolates out of my hands. "I think that's enough candy for today young lady. Anymore chocolates, and your teeth will start to rot," he said while giggling.
I pouted. I was enjoying the candy. And to be honest, I was hungry too. I looked at Michael and took a deep breath. "But those are mine Michael. You can't take something that's not yours," I said with a hint of attitude.
"I'm sorry sweetheart, but those are the rules. No candy before dinner," he pointed out.
"Well that's a stupid rule," I said while rolling my eyes.Michael's POV
The more comfortable Mia got with me, the more she started talking to me. I have no problem with that. In fact, I want her to feel comfortable enough to share whatever is on her mind. But the downside to this newfound comfort was her attitude. I'm trying my best not to reprimand her on every little thing because, I can only imagine how difficult it is for her to adjust to everything new. This attitude she was so persistent on exhibiting, would've cost my older 3 a punishment for sure.
As Mia rolled her eyes at the candy rule, I decided to change the topic and show her the outfit I had my stylist pick out for her. It was a black dress. We were all going to be wearing black. "Do you like it Mia?" I asked.
"Yes Michael, its pretty. Thank you," she said with a smile. I was glad she liked it.
"We're gonna have to head out soon ok Mia? Do you want to have an early dinner before we go, or dinner after the fashion show?" I asked.
"Whatever gets me my chocolates the fastest," she said with a smirk. I tried to hide my smile. Lord, this girl is already testing me.
"Oh you're done with chocolates for today little girl. That attitude earlier sealed your fate," I said gently. I didn't want to be too harsh with her, but she needed to know I was not gonna be fooled by her slick antics.
"Dad, Paris called to make sure we're getting ready. She really doesn't want us to be late," Prince said as he entered the room.
"Ok everyone needs to start getting ready. Grace, can you please help Mia get dressed?" I asked Grace.
"Sure Mr. Jackson," she responded.
"And Mia, I'll have someone send you a little snack before we go. We'll have dinner as family after the show." Mia simply smiled and nodded her head. I made my way into my bedroom to get ready for tonight.
