Mia's POV
All this stupid homework took me ages to finish. I don't see what's the point of even doing them anymore. It's not like it's going to count towards anything at this point. Daddy just wants me to suffer. I was tired and frustrated. I still had a long book report to complete. But my brain just couldn't take it anymore. Plus it was time for dinner. With this stack of assignments already completed, I highly doubt Daddy will even notice a missing book report.
Grace called me down for dinner before taking her leave for the night. I went down to the dining room of our suite, with a pout and attitude. I made a mental note to just keep my mouth shut during dinner, so I don't make matters worse for myself. Prince and Blanket were talking their heads off at Daddy about some newly released video game, while Paris was engrossed in her phone.
"Paris put your phone away please. You know the rules. No phones at the table," Daddy warned. Paris let out a frustrated sigh, catching Daddy's attention. "Keep that up, and you won't have a phone at all. Is that what you want?" he said angrily.
"I'm an adult... you can't take my phone away," Paris scoffed. "I won't let you." Daddy glared at Paris for a minute before speaking up.
"You wanna try me little girl?" he said with his brows furrowed. The table went quiet. We all realized Daddy was not in the mood for our regular outbursts. Not that he ever really was, but tonight especially not tonight. However, I don't think Paris got the cue. She rolled her eyes and slammed her fork down on her plate.
"I can't wait to move out! I'm tired of being treated like a little kid all the time! I'm over this family!" she exclaimed. We all stared at Daddy, waiting for his reaction. But all we could see on his face was hurt. This was the first time Paris said anything about moving out. I know that must've hurt his feelings. Paris was Daddy's little girl. Well to my understanding, they were a lot closer till I came along. According to my siblings, Daddy started to give me more attention than the rest of my them. I'm not too sure if they were okay with that or not. Either way, Daddy was Paris's world, and she was his. I know that one must've really hurt him. His expression changed from hurt to anger real quick.
"Well... I'm sorry that's how you feel. But let me just remind you Paris, the outside world is nothing like Neverland! You actually have to work to make a living. And don't for a second think that you'll be reaping any benefits of being my daughter. Rent and bills gotta be paid, whether you're a Jackson or not! And judging from your work ethic so far, the outside world will be kicking your ass!!!" Daddy yelled. "So by all means, move out if that's what you really want... now that you're an adult and whatnot!"
Paris looked like she was about to cry. I actually felt a little bad for her. I didn't expect Daddy to blow up like that. The only time he yells or curses is when he's super mad. Yes, even the word ass was considered a bad word in our house. So to hear him say it in front of us, really showed how angry all of this made him. Now I was starting to worry. With Daddy already in a bad mood, I knew our "talk" after dinner was only going to result in me crying.
Paris didn't touch her food even once after that. She sat there silently, wiping away a few tears. "Since you're clearly done eating, why don't you go to bed," Daddy suggested calmly. Well, it was more of a command then a suggestion at this point.
"It's only 8," Paris mumbled without looking at him.
"And I said go to bed. I don't see how the time correlates with what I asked you to do," Daddy replied. "If you have a problem with that, there are other ways for me to convince you to follow my directions little girl!" Wow. Another mental note, just keep your mouth shut the rest of the night. Paris was in full blown tears from his threat. All her "adult attitude" went straight out the window. She got up from her seat and ran upstairs.
We all continued to eat in silence. This was so awkward, I didn't know where to look. Daddy quickly interrupted my thoughts with a question. "Mia, did you complete your missing assignments?" he asked. I simply nodded my head yes, not trusting anything that could possibly come out of my mouth. "Bring all of it to my room once you're done eating please. Bring your school bag with you. I'm going to check everything," he said calmly. As calm as he sounded, his words sounded more like a threat than anything else. I really should've finished that book report now that I think about it.
