Sam felt a little funny. As she threw on her pack, she felt her stomach grumble. She wanted ice cream but at the same time, she felt sick. She dismissed the thought, grabbed her gun, and headed for the gate room. She was last to arrive. The gate was just finished being dialed as the wormhole appeared.

"Carter, you're white as a ghost." Jack said.

"Just a little dizzy sir...."she didn't finish her sentence before she collapsed.

"Janet! We need a med team!" Jack rushed to Carters side. Everything went black for Sam.

Infirmary

Sam peaked her eyes open. A bright light was a over her and she felt something touching her hand.

"Janet, she's up!" Jack called. He moved his hand away from hers. Janet ran back into the room, replacing the curtain behind her.

"Sam, how are you feeling?" She asked.

Sam groaned, "Sore."

"I'd bet. You took quite a fall onto the concrete. I did some bloodwork and I do need to have a word with you about it." She look at Jack. He shook his head and stepped out of the the curtained room.

"Sam, I'm a little hurt you didn't tell me you were seeing anybody." Janet flipped her chart open.

"What do you mean?" Sam said.

"Sam, your pregnant and you didn't tell me you were seeing anyone." Janet put her hands to her hips and waited for an answer.

"Wait, What! I'm pregnant? How can that be?" Sams heart started racing, but as she began to think about the last couple of weeks and how she's felt sick all the time. Then she thought back to the hollowed out tree. Her eyes shot up at Janet who was still standing there. "About 6 weeks?"

"You sure are. Apparently you know who the father is?" Janet smiled.

"Yeah." Sam smiled at Janet.

"Care to share?" She asked.

"Not yet, Janet. Sorry." Sam gave her a reassuring look but she knew Janet was suspicious of the man standing outside the curtain by the way she batted her eyes toward Jack direction. She turned and grabbed the curtain and pushed it out of the way revealing the infirmary.

"Alright, Jack, you can come back in," he appeared around the corner, "She's fine but I am going to suspend her gate travel just until we make sure no more dizzy spells hit. Get some rest, Sam." With that, the doctor walked out to her next patient.

"Well, that was enlightening. What's wrong Sam? I know when something is wrong and that look on your face tells me you're upset." She smiled knowing she couldn't hide it much longer.

"Sir, I'm pregnant." She held her breath and waited for his reaction. He didn't say anything for awhile.

"And by pregnant you mean, the rainforest planet?" He looked shocked.

"Yes, sir." She tried to keep the formality.

"Well, that changes things, doesn't it, Carter?" He smiled. Every nerve in her body relaxed. She smiled back at him. "I need Hammond." With that he turned and walked out.

"Wait, sir." He stopped and backed up.

"Do you want it?" She asked. He didn't say anything but waved his head in a circle. He dropped beside her bed and grabbed her hand.

"Sam, I love you. I want to have a family, I just thought it would be a little later. But yes, I want this baby, no matter what. We will be a family. Why did you even doubt?"

She tipped her head back, "We never talked about it. I didn't know how you felt about having a baby since..." she stopped.

"Charlie?" He finished. Jack kissed her on the head and walked away. Sam knew everything was going to be fine between them. Now, they had to try not to get Court Marshaled.

Sam waited almost and hour before she felt well enough to get up and get dressed. She headed for her lab in hopes of finding Jack. A Sergeant walked by, "Sam, Hammond and O'Neil want you in the Generals office ASAP."

"Thank you Sergeant." She knew she was walking into barbed wire. She knocked and heard the summon to come in. Jack and Hammond were both seated. Jack was rubbing his eyes and Hammond had this hands on his head, obviously frustrated. "Please sit, Sam." She looked at Jack who gave her a funny look.

"What do you know?" She asked Hammond.

"I know that I have to report two of my finest people for having relations!" He shouted.

"Sir, I can explain." She offered.

"Alright, continue." She took a deep breath.

"Do you remember the day O'Neil handed you his resignation?" He nodded, "While we were off world that day, he decided to retire so that we could be together. As far as we knew, he would be retired before anyone found out we were engaged. The damage was done before you denied him a resignation. So, with all do respect, this wasn't supposed to happen." He rubbed his head.

"Sir, Sam had nothing to do with this. I forced her into it, I should be court marshaled." Jack said, calmly.

"No, this is our chance, Jack." Sam said.

"Just...stop," Hammond commanded, "Jack, if you resign, right now, retire, I didn't know about this until after you left and Sam delivered 6 weeks early. Understood?" They both looked at each other. It was the best option. They both nodded.
"Good. Now Jack, we would like to have you on as a military consultant. That way you don't actually have to leave for good. Understood?"Hammond finished.

"Really?" They said in unison.

"Yes. Dismissed." Hammond said. They got up and opened the door.

"Sam!" The General called after her, "I never told you congratulations!" He smiled. Deep down he knew there had always been more to them. If he had known, he would have let Jack retire when he'd asked.
