2 months later...

Beep....Beep....Beep....Beep

Sam clicked off her alarm and rolled over to wake Jack. His side of the bed was empty and the covers were pushed back to the end of the bed. She wrapped her robe around her and heaved herself out of bed. The living room light was on when she came out of the bedroom.  She walked down the hall and was trying to be quiet. He was sitting in his recliner reading when she peaked her head around the corner. She couldn't tell what the book was but he was intrigued.

"Good morning, babe." She said and she walked into the living room like she hadn't been sneaking around. He jumped at the sound of her voice. He stood up quickly and tried to hide the book behind his leg.

"Hi, good morning. How are you feeling?" He asked quickly. He was acting weird, she noticed.

"I feel fine. What are you reading?" She pointed to the book he was trying to conceal behind his leg.

"Oh...you know. A western." She shifted back and forth nervously.

"A western?" She asked.

"Yep. Good old John Wayne."

"Hmmm... For all the years I have known you, Jack O'Neill has never read a book." She walked toward him and he stepped backwards, trying to avoid her hands which were reaching for the book. He was too slow and she grabbed it from behind his back.

"Crap." He said rubbing his face. She closed the book and read the cover, How to be a Father.

"Oh, Jack." She cried in astonishment as she held the book before her.

"I don't remember much about being a dad and I just didn't want to screw this one up." Jack put his hands in the pockets of his night pants.

"That's so sweet." She put her hands around his neck and gave him a big hug. She let go and kissed him quickly on the lips, "You're going to be a great dad." She put her head on his chest and they stood like that for a long time, enjoying each others company.

"Today is the day for our last ultrasound, isn't it?"He asked.

"Yes! I thought we could have our last day of actual work today. Is that OK?" She asked him, hoping he wouldn't get mad.

"No,that's fine. You're just working in the lab, right?" He knew she had a tendency to wind up in the gate room and he forbid that after she got hit with the staph weapon.

"Yeah, I have some soil samples SG-13 brought back that I need to analyze." He thought it was funny how excited she got over soil samples, but she loved it.

"Alright. Then let's get going, I need some breakfast."

At the SGC...

"Hi, Janet." Sam said as they walked into the infirmary. She was leaning over a chart looking confused.

"Hey guys, I was wondering when you were coming." She stood up and put her hand on her hips.

"I had a rough time getting moving this morning." Sam admitted.

"Uh, oh. Anything wrong?" Janet asked, being the invasive doctor friend she is.

"No, I just feel massive. It's hard moving around with a bowling ball attached your stomach.

"It's hard sleeping with one, too." Jack added. Both women sent him a glare.

"Well, why don't we have a look and see how little Janet O'Neill is doing?" Janet pointed to the ultrasound machine she had set up in the corner bed. Jack followed Sam to the bed and helped her up. He went to the opposite side of the bed and sat down beside her. Janet moved the curtain around the bed and walked to Sam. She rolled her shirt up and squirted jelly on her stomach. The screen flashed all kinds of granulated images until their daughter came across the screen. Janet smiled.
