Sam and Jack's Ending: Stargate SG-1

The Hit

"Unscheduled off world activation!" The speakers and alarm sounded. Sam stood from her chair, a little unsteady from the extra weight. They had postponed the wedding because Jacob had been called back to discuss a treaty. She was five months now, and she was feeling it. She headed toward the gate room. This one should be her dad. She stood before the gate, with Jack beside her.

Whooom whooom whoom.

The blast from a staph weapon zinged against the concert and exploded leaving a black mark. Jack covered Sams head and stomach with his body. The hits stopped as Jacob came through the gate, landing hard on the ramp. Two Ja'Fa materialized after him and fired fast with their staphs, knocking down men one by one.

"Fire at will! Close the iris!" Hammond commanded. Gunshot sounded all around them as Jack pushed Sam to the floor and covered her with his body. Bullets buzzed all around them. Then, silence. The gunshot stopped and Jack lifted his head.

"What the Hell? Is anybody wounded?" Hammond screamed over the PA.

"Man down, we need a medic!" Someone screamed.

Jack climbed off of Sam, "Sam, are you hurt?" He followed her eyes to her abdomen where her hand was covered in blood. Their eyes met as the fear pulled through them. Janet ran into the gate room. Sam rolled over and grabbed her side as pain shot through it. She screamed.

"Janet! Sams hit!" Jacob realized what was going on and ran over.

"Sam, are you OK?" He asked.

"I don't know." She doubled back in pain into Jacks arms.

"We need to get you to the infirmary." Janet said. They loaded Sam up on a gurney and transported her. Janet followed close behind.

"Keep pressure on the wound." Janet told Jacob.

"Jack!" Sam shouted from the hall. He ran to her side, past the nurses.

"Are you in pain? What can I do?" He grabbed her hand. She was crying.

"I don't want to lose the baby. It is the best thing that ever happened to me and I don't want to lose you, Jack."

"Well, I'm not going anywhere." Janet smiled at them.

"Jack, stay here. I will find you when I have news or when you can see her." Janet pushed his hand off the gurney. He was left alone until Jacob was pushed off the gurney too and a nurse took over. Jack just stood at the infirmary doors and watched nurses run everywhere. He imagined his whole life falling apart because of one blast he should've taken for her. Just the same as Charlie. One bullet ruined his life, and it was his fault.

"C'mon, Jack. Let's go get something to eat." Jacob said.

"I'll pass. I'm not all that hungry right now, thanks." Jack said, not taking his eyes off the doors. Jacob sighed and walked away.

5 Hours Later...

"Jack?" He jerked out of his daze as Janet stood before him. He doubled back in his chair.
"How is she? Can I see her? How's the baby?" He talked fast.

"She's going to be fine. So is the baby. The bullet hit just above her hip and didn't hit any major organs. She's very lucky. Just a few centimeters to the right and she would have lost the fetus." He sat back in relief.

"And, yes, she's waking up as we speak." He rushed past her and into the curtained area. Sam lay on her back, one hand across her belly. Her eyes were just starting to crack open.

"Jack?" She croaked. He rushed to her side.

"I'm here. I'm here." He said taking her hand and kneeling down.

"Is the baby..." she was afraid to finish.

"Fine. Alive and well." He finished. She closed her eyes and sighed a sigh of relief.

"Thank God." She said. She rubbed her belly, just to make sure it was still there.

"And you will be fine, too, mom." She smiled at the thought of being a mom. Janet pulled the curtain back and entered.

"Alright Sam. I do want to take another ultrasound, just in case. Want to see your baby, Jack?" She looked to him who looked to Sam.

"Yeah, I'd like that." Jack said. Janet pulled up her gown and slathered jelly all over her stomach. Jack grabbed Sams hand again. She turned the monitor and watched the baby for a few seconds before she said anything.

"Everything looks good!" She smiled, "Want to see?" Both Sam and Jack nodded. Janet turned the screen and turned up the volume. A small brown figure moved back and forth and a loud thump-thump filled the room. They both stared intently at their child.

"Want to know what it is?" Janet asked. They looked at each other.

"If you want to?" He said.

"Yes." Sam said excitedly.

"You're going to have a daughter, guys." Their hearts skipped a beat.

"Janet" They both repeated to each other. Janet turned around.

"What?" She said.

"That's what we are naming the baby." Sam said.
