I woke up by the sound of my phone vibrating next to my face. I had cried myself to sleep. It was Jai calling.
'Hey babe' I said sleepily.
'Hi, you alright? I've called you five times...'
'Oh, I'm sorry, I fell asleep' I quickly checked my the time, 4.28pm. 'Wanna come over in half an hour? My family's at my aunties this afternoon, they'll be back this evening'
'Sure, when will I meet your parents though? I mean, as your boyfriend.' I smiled, he was too adorable.
'Wow, you're eager! I haven't really met your mum either you know, and I don't understand why you wanna meet my family, I'm telling you they're a bunch of dysfunctional weirdos'
'Bet you're the weirdest'
'Shut up!' I laughed. See you in thirty'
'Bye, love you'
'Love you too'
I sat up. When I came to think of it, it was weird how incredibly fast our relationship had evolved. But this was more then just a teenage crush, at least for me. I couldn't see my future without Jai by my side, and that scared me, it scared me as fuck that in such a little amount of time, I had become dependent on him. Ten minutes had already passed. I quickly got up, my hair was a mess and my make-up even worse, smudged in my face. I quickly fixed it up, shut down my laptop and before I knew it the bell rung. I ran down the stairs, opened the door and flung myself in Jai's strong embrace, he almost fell backwards out of shock.
'Why don't I get this kind of reception every time we meet?' He chuckled.
'You wish' I smiled teasingly. 'I'm a weak women, I need a strong man at the moment' This wiped Jai's smile away, and he wore the same concern expression as he had in school a couple of hours before.
'But it's alright now, you're here' I said hastily, not wanting him to hurt just because I did. I gave him a tour around the house, and we lay down in my bed, my head on his chest, our hands interlocked. We lay like that for almost two hours, talking about everything. I didn't want to bring the subject up, about our relationship being public and hated on, but I couldn't stand not to talk about it either. I was quiet for a while, lost in thought. Jai seemed to notice.
'What are you thinking about love?' he said, stroking my hair.
'Oh you know... stuff.' I said fleetingly. 'Did you see Luke's tweet?'
'Yeah, guess he's not always a dick'
'I like Luke, he always speaks his opinions, no matter what hate it would give him, he's strong' Jai snorted, obviously a bit offended. I turned my head to meet his eyes. 'You know what I mean' I smiled. 'How are you coping? With all the hate I mean?' I asked Jai.
'Me? I'm fine, I'm just so angry and upset how my so called fans are treating you' I didn't know what to say so I leaned in to kiss his soft, full lips.
We broke apart as we heard my front door slam, and the sound of my family's voices quickly rose.
'The door was open, is Alexandra home already? I thought she had football practise' I heard my mum say.
'Fuck.' I said, sitting up. I had forgot my footie practise, and my parents didn't know the existence of my boyfriend, I had told them I was seeing Alice when I had hung out with him.
'Let's get this over with,' I grabbed Jai's hand and we descended the stairs.
'Muuum, I'm here! And err, I've got company' My whole family's eyes fell upon me, then Jai, than our linked hands.
