I stare at my love's face as she walks out of the police station and into her car. We'll be together soon. A female officer, who introduces herself as Detective Gray, comes over to me and motions for me to follow her.
I get up and walk behind her as we enter an interrogation room. Huntress's uncle, Detective Winters, sits at a table and motions me to sit down.
As I sit down he starts the tape recorder next to him. " This is Detective Winters. Would you mind stating your name for me?"
I stare at him, at first internally panicking but then calming down. "Blaire Crimson" I give them a false name. Knowing they'll be too busy with the case and many interviews to remember the name.
At least I hope.
Detective Winters nods. " And what was your relationship with the victim?". I lick my lips and make my stance lazy, as if I have someone where else to be. " She was just a person I saw in the hallways, a mean person, but a person I just saw walking the halls like all the students do nonetheless". I shrug.
Detective Winters nods. "And you had no trouble with her?". I shake my head. " No. None at all". He nods. "I see and would you say that-" he glances at his notepad then back up at me. " Would you say that Huntress Winters had any trouble with her?".
A burst of anger so hot and explosive rushes through my veins, through my entire body. I struggle not to show it. How dare they think she had anything to do with this?
I put on a thinking face. "Yeah but just a little bit of trouble. You know how teenage girls are". I know better then to be the one to bring up the punch. They have to be the ones to bring it up or else me suddenly bringing it up will seem suspicious.
As predicted, Detective Gray speaks up. "Apparently some students say that Huntress hit Ashley in the school cafeteria yesterday morning, is that true?".
I have to stop from making my hands into fits. She says that like it was her fault. "Yes she punched Ashley but that was because Ashley insulted her mom". I glance at Detective Winters to see a quick flash of anger appear on his face. Your sister in-law law I think.
Detective Gray nods. "And you know this how?". I let out a laugh of disbelief. "The entire cafeteria was silent. Everyone heard the insult". Detective Winters nods. " Ok Blaire, one more thing and we're done. Where were you at 12 am on November 6?". I furrow my eyebrows, faking like I'm thinking. "I was with my sister, we were watching TV and then we went to bed".
I give them her phone number. Already one step ahead of them.
Detective Winters nods " Ok Blaire. Thank you for your time. You can go now". I stand, nod, and shake his hand and Detective Gray's. I walk out of the room and out the door. A smile on my face.
Three Weeks Later
I stand in the school parking lot in all black clothing with my duffle bag hanging over my shoulder and my hood up, the brim of my black cap hung low over my head.
My back is toward the school cameras. I'm not stupid enough to get my face caught on camera. Besides....as a necessary precaution I made sure the cameras just happen to... malfunction at the time of my job.
I glance down at my watch. Which should be any second now that the game is over. Right on cue, Tyler Wilson, star quarterback of RSA comes out of school, still wearing his football jersey. As he approaches his car, I jog toward him and call his name, "Hey Wilson!".
He turns towards me. A look of surprise on his face. "Oh, it's you hey. Were you here for the game?" he asks me. I shake my head. "No. I had to do some work in the school. Sorry I missed it. Hey you look sweaty you want some water?".
He nods. "Sure". I swing my duffle bag around and pull out a bottle of water, drugged with Rohypnol. The dude's quarterback of the football team. I'm not stupid to try and take him down without some kind of advantage.
I hand the bottle over to him. He uncaps the bottle and takes a couple of swigs. He sighs and wipes his mouth. "Thanks" he says and hands the bottle back to me. I take it and put it back in my bag. I smile. "No problem".
"Hey, um, listen. I'm sorry about Ashley. In fact, I made a collage of her with you. Thought you might want it. It's at my family cabin, just through these woods". I point in the direction of my "cabin". Tyler turns his head towards the woods then back to me, uncertainty dawning on his face.
I clap my hands. "It'll only take a second I promise. Besides, wouldn't you like something to have to remember her by? Something no one else has but you?". I watch as tears fill his eyes before he blinks them away.
He nods."Let's go". I smile and hike my duffle bag higher up on my shoulder. I start walking away from the car and into the woods. And like a good trusting victim, he follows.
A couple of seconds later and we're in the thick of the woods. I glance at Tyler whose walking right next to me. His eyes are heavy and his steps are wobbly and uneven. I smile. The drug's in his system. Good.
I stop and turn, facing him. I drop the bag at my side and place my hands in my pockets. Tyler stares at me. " W-why'd you you stops?"he slurs at me.
I start walking towards him, fingering the knife in my pocket. I rush towards him, pull the knife out, and stab him in his stomach. His eyes go wide with shock and fear.
Before he can do anything else, I hook my foot behind his ankle, making him fall to the forest floor on his back. He stares at me, gasping for air. Blood forms between his lips.
I kneel beside him and pull out the knife with a squelch before stabbing him again and again.
In.
Out.
In.
Out.
In.
Out.
In.
Out.
I stab him until the light fades from his eyes. I pull out the knife and wipe it on the forest floor. That'll have to do for now. Time to go to work. I get up and drag the duffel bag over to the body.
Kneeling beside him I unzip the bag and pull out a King's crown, a toy scepter, a royal blue robe, and open-toed sandals. I take off his gym shoes and put the sandals on. I prop his body into a sitting position with my duffle bag leaning against his back. I quickly get to work.
I tie the robe around his shoulders. I open his left hand and place the scepter in and make a fist. I place the crown neatly on top of his head. Once I'm sure everything's in place, I gently lay him back on the floor. I put his shoes near his body, grab my duffle bag, place the knife inside and stand up.
I look down and admire my work on my victim. I let a smile show. Perfect. I walk away from Tyler until I'm on the sidewalk. I face the school parking lot where his teammates should be wondering where he went. I face the forest where my magnificent work lies as a gift to my mistress.
I bow and walk away, heading home.
